We’re proud to share that the International Astronautical Federation inducted our CTO and Co-Founder Dr. Edward Lu into its Hall of Fame today during the #IAC2024 in Milan, Italy. 🎉 As a physicist, engineer, pilot, former NASA astronaut, inventor, educator, and serial co-founder, Ed has dedicated his career to mapping the unknown and the unseen to prevent disasters both in #space and on Earth. At LeoLabs, he leads the development of innovative technologies that identify, track, and monitor objects and activity in LEO, including potentially disastrous on-orbit collisions. While he’s well-known for his impressive achievements, Ed is also known by his colleagues and friends for his humor, honesty, and collaborative spirit—and we’re proud to have him on our team. Congratulations, Ed! Learn more about this recognition and Ed’s visionary contributions to the global space community below.

🎧 Tune in to this interview excerpt on Moore’s Law and the exponential growth in satellite launches with LeoLabs Co-Founder & CTO Edward Lu, from the Click Here podcast by The Record from Recorded Future News. “How do we scale our ability to track twice as many objects in two years? And twice as many again? And twice as many again? Because that’s what’s happening,” Ed told host Dina Temple-Raston. “If I was an astronaut today, I’d be saying, ‘Hey, is this a risk we can reduce?’ The answer to that is ‘Yes.’ ‘Is this a risk we can avoid making larger?’ The answer to that is ‘Yes.’ And those are the things that need to happen: better tracking of debris, less creation of debris, better monitoring of what’s going on up there, faster notifications. Those are the things that will make a difference.” Catch the full clip 👉 https://bit.ly/3UT64Ng

It was terrific to host Manish Kothari, Nick Sinai, Kiichiro DeLuca, and our newest Director the Honorable Ronald S. Moultrie who serve on the LeoLabs board in Arizona to see the newest radar in our global network. This next generation UHF direct planar array system was constructed in less than 5 months and is now tracking over 9,500 resident space objects! Massive thanks to our world class LeoLabs Radar Hardware, Software, and Global Infrastructure team for the incredible effort to get this new system online. More to come soon on the full capabilities of this sensor and how it will bring commercial innovation to #SpaceDomainAwareness and #SpaceTrafficManagement missions.

We’re proud to join U.S. Space Command’s Commercial Integration Cell (CIC). The commercial intelligence-sharing initiative is expanding from communications and Earth observation companies to now include #SpaceDomainAwareness (SDA) providers. Many of LeoLabs’ solutions align closely with USSPACECOM mission areas, including SDA services that provide indications and warnings in low Earth orbit, serving a neighborhood watch function and analyzing threat activity. We look forward to partnering with USSPACECOM and fellow commercial CIC members to identify and respond to threats and anomalies in space. Learn more in SpaceNews 🔗 http://bit.ly/4ffS7Rp
