Peatland restoration plays a crucial role in tackling climate change, but understanding how carbon exchange evolves in degraded raised bogs during restoration is just as important. That’s why our work at All Saints Bog, Ireland, has been focusing on tracking these changes since 2021—using the LICOR system to measure carbon flux and the ecohydrological processes driving it. We’re excited to announce that Dr. Brian Helmuth, Chief Scientific Officer at Proteus Ocean Group, will give a selected talk at Connect 2025! 🌊 Dr. Helmuth leads the innovative PROTEUS™ project, a smart ocean platform designed to accelerate research and amplify ocean storytelling. As a Professor at the Marine Science Center at Northeastern University, he specializes in ecological forecasting in coastal ecosystems like coral reefs and rocky intertidal zones. His work integrates physiology, field manipulations, and environmental sensor networks to inform policy and drive conservation efforts. This is because plants are leaking more water than previously thought. Dr. Sean Michaletz, a newly minted Sloan Research Fellow in UBC Science, studies how plants respond to heat.
