🌟 Record-Setting #SC24 Blends High-Performance Computing and #AI 🚀 📑 You can now read SC24 - Supercomputing conference highlights from our analysts -- see link below. The #SC24, held in Atlanta, Georgia, during November 17-22, 2024, set a record for a second year running with over 18,000 attendees. Some 500 companies and organizations exhibited and for a quarter of the exhibitors, this was their first show. The prominent theme was artificial intelligence (#AI) and its influence on high-performance computing (#HPC), the traditional theme of the event. #AI is starting to be used to benefit #highperformancecomputing workloads executed on the largest #supercomputers. The AI marketplace now dwarfs the high-performance computing market. #GPUs are as key for supercomputers as they are for AI. #Photonics has a low profile at the SC conferences despite its importance in scaling supercomputers and #AIclusters. However, photonics had its strongest presence yet on the exhibition floor. #optics #optical #datacenter #networks #technews Roy Rubenstein Bob Wheeler https://lnkd.in/gea5AB67

🌟 LightCounting updates forecast for #Optical #Sensors used in #Smartphone and #Automotive Markets 💹 Deployments of Optical Sensors by Chinese companies will return this market to growth Chinese #car manufacturers started to deploy #lidars on many of their models and scaled up production in 2022-2023. #HeSai and #RoboSense (the leading suppliers of lidars) are now publicly traded companies and they reported a steady ramp in lidar shipments for the last two years and for the first 9 months of 2024. However, steep price declines are limiting growth in sales. We expect that continuing price declines, combined with stabilizing demand, will lead to a decline in sales in 2025-2026. Lower sales of #lidars to automakers in Europe and North America will be another factor negatively impacting the market. Read more at the link below. 🌟 LightCounting releases its November 2024 Access Optics Forecast Report 📈 Access optics sales to reach $2.9 billion by 2029 The optical access market – Fiber-to-the-X, fronthaul, and #backhaul – has always been cyclical, as operators deploy a new generation of technology every 4-6 years. #2024 marked a low point in the cycle for both #FTTx and #fronthaul, and also marked the ramp-up of newer Fiber-to-the-Room (#FTTR) technology in China. Fiber-to-the-Home #FTTH deployments hit a cyclical low point this year, as China’s deployment of #10G XGS-PON continues to wind down and U.S. operators are waiting for the promised broadband stimulus funding from the federal government. LightCounting expects sales in this segment to ramp up again over the next several years, as the B.E.A.D. funding starts to be realized, driving up #10GPON deployment in the #US, and #China begins deploying next generation #50GPON, which has been in operator trials for a few years now. Read more at the link below.
