How can wisdom emerge from -- and grow -- in a P2P decentralized AI network? And why does it matter? LightRoot CSO Robert Moir, PhD² explores this and related ideas (like love) in this philosophical and yet oddly practical conversation with Julia Mossbridge, PhD. How can we secure the future? Specifically, how can we create good governance for a decentralized AI network? It turns out that ideas arising from work being done over the past few decades at the United States Postal Service and the Universal Postal Union can begin to address this question. 📪 I never thought about it like this before I interviewed Gregory Crabb (retired CISO of the USPS), but he pointed out that the postal system is decentralized. Each node (person or business) sends a package/letter when it wants to, and receives mail when it's ready for them. There is no over-arching controller that determines when and how these things are done, and there are 192 countries coordinating their own postal services in the Universal Postal Union. So they have to figure all this out. 📤 In this story-filled interview, I do a deep dive with Greg about his experiences securing the activities of the USPS and helping support the Universal Postal Union. His wisdom and expertise will help guide the governance of the P2P decentralized AI network that at LightRoot Quantum we call LACE: Lightweight AI Computing Ecosystem. #artificialintelligence #decentralization #AI4good #usps #LACE #P2P #aigovernance #decentralizedgovernance

We are excited to start to talk about what we're doing! #quantumcomputing #innovation #decentralization #AI
🌎 Why will the US government be the first major power to invest in the worldwide Lightweight AI Computing Ecosystem (LACE)? Because it is our best strategy for integrating real-time insight into our work. "An international team of philosophers, coders, and do-gooders are giving AIs their own Internet to offer humans our best shot at solving the world’s hardest problems. This is the first installment of a series that describes why a worldwide Lightweight AI Computing Ecosystem (LACE) is essential for the future of our country, the planet, and probably the universe. In the follow-up series of interviews with the LightRoot Quantum team who are bringing LACE to the public sector in the US, we’ll do a deep dive into understanding how LACE might actually work." Please enjoy and pass along this first installment on Medium. #ai #ai4good #decentralization #decentralizedAI #LACE #insight #intelligenceanalysis #governmentinnovation #dhs

As we learn to think differently about time -- we learn to love ourselves and others. That's what I've noticed, and it seems to me we can bring this learning into our relationship with AI -- which I think will eventually be a powerfully positive and healing one! I was honored to discuss these ideas with Dyan Finkhousen, founder and CEO of the global advisory firm Shoshin Works and Vikram Shyam, lead futurist at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Glenn Research Center. I described some of the work in decentralized AI we are doing with the public sector at LightRoot Quantum and also our technology projects at The Institute for Love and Time (TILT). #divergentthinking #diversityofthought #futurism #foresight #newparadigms #ai4good #artificialintelligence #time

I spent some time this weekend studying "celestial holography." The Simons Foundation has a collaboration with University of Washington to explore this potentially promising approach to understanding the universe. I definitely don't understand it -- way out of my field. But I have good intuitions about the physics of time, and this theory seems important to our understanding of time. The other thing I noticed is that all but one of the women involved in this collaboration are from the Perimeter Institute. Is Perimeter hoarding women in physics because they recognize that new insights come from diverse thinkers? I hope so. Check out Sabrina Paterski (aka @Physics Girl -- at Perimeter) describing her fun approach -- https://lnkd.in/gqqiE-Hj -- at the Western Hemisphere Colloquium on Geometry and Physics in late 2023. Here's a brief video interview of her when she was in grad school at Harvard University: https://lnkd.in/gZx6GdWG -- in which she's called the new Einstein. Peer-2-peer decentralized AI -- especially the kind we at LightRoot call LACE (Lightweight AI Computing Ecosystem) is the closest thing there is to the diversity of function and hypernetworking that makes the human brain so resilient. #neuroscience #decentralized #ai #resilience

“The amount of [computing power] that AI needs doubles every 3 months,” said Nick Harris, founder and CEO of the computing-hardware company Lightmatter. “It’s going to break companies and economies. Harris founded Lightmatter, a hardware company that mitigates that need with machines that use photons instead of electrons. https://lnkd.in/e4y2fw8q
