But did you know that the way we manage ice and snow can also impact green infrastructure? At LINK, we’re working with municipalities and partners like Burns & McDonnell to educate communities on environmentally friendly de-icing practices that support green infrastructure. Many traditional de-icing salts can harm the plants that make green infrastructure effective in absorbing, treating, and managing stormwater. Here’s how we’re addressing these challenges: - Promoting eco-friendly de-icing solutions that minimize damage to vegetation while keeping roads safe. - Supporting education efforts to help municipalities and communities understand the importance of protecting green spaces during winter. - Ensuring sustainability by advocating for practices that preserve the health of plants vital to green infrastructure systems.
