“Go be a medical doctor and do something useful with your life," my grandma said with a sneer when I told her about my first aerospace project. It was an audacious goal in college: building a cube satellite. And it was very dear to my heart. "Get your head out of the clouds," she added. I was crushed. I had just spent the last five years studying hard for computer engineering. Sadly, my story is not unique. Many others have shared their passions, only to be met with similar discouragement. This reflects a two-part problem: a lack of understanding about the importance of innovation and aerospace, and the absence of a supportive community. That’s why I founded the Women’s Aerospace Network, with a vision to bring together passionate and talented women, creating a community where they can thrive and pursue their aerospace dreams with confidence.
