This week, we’re learning about Benjamin Banneker, a brilliant mathematician and surveyor who played a key role in designing Washington, D.C. using advanced math skills. To celebrate his legacy, our little learners are creating their own “Shape City.” Using tape to map out roads and blocks to build structures, they’re exploring shapes, spatial awareness, and early mapping skills—just like Banneker. Meet another incredible trailblazer, Beverly Loraine Greene. As the first Black female licensed architect in the U.S., Greene helped design iconic structures like the UNESCO Headquarters.
