Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. MLK Day honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights leader who advocated for equality, justice, and nonviolent resistance to racism and segregation. This holiday serves as an opportunity to honor Dr. King's contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, reflect on his message of unity and equality, and engage in community service projects inspired by his commitment to improving society. Dr. King called us to be kinder to one another, and consider the needs, hopes, and desires of others. He inspired us to have a collective vision for a better nation, a message that still resonates today. #MLKDay

Happy Holidays! As we wrap up our second-ever "Rent-Free Holidays," we wanted to share one final story. Gary & Dorothy have lived at a BH community in FL for about a year. Everyone who has met them agrees they have made a difference in the community. Gary, a retired veteran, is currently facing a challenging battle with cancer. Despite his personal health struggles, and the additional stress of caring for his wife, Gary's resilience and positivity shine through. Even while preparing for his treatments, Gary always greets the team and others with a warm smile, embodying a genuinely inspirational spirit to everyone who knows him. This couple is a beloved part of the community. They attend every resident event, bringing a warmth and friendliness that makes everyone feel welcome. This rent-free holiday was a meaningful way to recognize their courage and positivity and to give back to a couple who has given so much to the community. ❤

As we head into the holiday week, we wanted to share another heartwarming story from our "Rent-Free Holidays" program. Joe & Sharelle live at one of our communities in Florida. After Hurricane Milton, the property was a disaster, with palm fronds, branches, roof shingles, and other debris all over the place. Sharelle and her children took it upon themselves to start cleaning the community’s very large pool area, picking up all the debris and disposing of it before the on-site team could even get to it. This family takes pride in where they live and are always eager to help, which is very refreshing! ❤ #OneBH #LiveBH

We're excited to continue our coverage of BH's second-ever "Rent-Free Holidays" program. The total number of resident families we were able to help this year has grown to 138! The team at TAVA Waters Apartments in Denver, CO, nominated Jeff for this year’s Rent-Free Holidays program. Jeff is being recognized for his extraordinary courage and selflessness while rescuing animals from a dangerous fire. In April 2024, a fire broke out at TAVA Waters. The flames spread quickly, putting the lives of both humans and animals in danger. Jeff entered the burning building without hesitation and at significant personal risk to save the trapped animals. Despite the heat, smoke, and perilous conditions, Jeff remained focused and determined, demonstrating remarkable bravery. Jeff's quick thinking and fearless actions prevented a devastating loss. This heroism showcases a deep compassion for animals and the willingness to put others before himself. Jeff’s actions serve as an inspiring example. His actions were truly extraordinary and worthy of this happy holiday moment. 💚 #OneBH #LiveBH
