As we reflect on 25 years of Local Wisdom, there is one thing that we can credit our success with more than anything else: our people.    We’re especially grateful for the amazing team driving us forward today.     To celebrate our teammates on Employee Appreciation Day, we’re giving each individual an extra day of PTO as a small thank you for the energy, creativity, and dedication they bring to our organization every day. How do you refine the skillsets of growing faster and adapting? You create a culture focused on growth! 💡📚 💼    As we continue our #25yearsoflocalwisdom celebration, we embrace our value of “learn by doing.” All month long, our #bitsofwisdom series will provide tips on how to put this value into practice.    Below are 4 ways to build a learning culture.    ⛔ Encourage openly speaking about failures: Create a culture where people do not try to cover up their mistakes so you can learn collectively as a team.     🎬 Err on the side of action: Doing something to learn a new skill now is better than waiting for the “perfect time” to get started. Big improvements are made over small increments!     📓 Track progress with learning logs: Keeping track of skills that each teammate is building through projects and other professional development outlets will help motivate the whole team.    🏆 Incentivize teammates with rewards: Recognize employees who step out of their comfort zone, whether that is in the form of kudos, a paid lunch, or factored into a bonus.    #learn #learning #do #doing #learnbydoing #action #failure #progress #reward #kudos

Whether navigating complex client projects from start to finish or crafting impactful messaging, Kelsey approaches every project with precision and purpose. Beyond her work at Local Wisdom, Kelsey is the author of "Strong Calm Confident You" and the founder of a blog dedicated to empowering individuals to embrace their authentic selves. This June, she’ll be taking the stage at the IABC World Conference to give a TED Talk-esque presentation inspired by her book. They say, “Trust your gut” for a reason! Your instincts can be your greatest productivity tool. Here are 3 powerful questions to help you err on the side of action and tap into your inner wisdom: ❓ “How do I feel energy-wise?” When inspiration strikes, lean into it. Don’t fight the natural flow of creativity – ride the wave! ❓ “What milestone would bring me a sense of accomplishment?” Set a clear, smaller goal that feels attainable. When you define your finish line, you can sprint toward it with focus. ❓ “What is holding me back?” Sometimes, the biggest roadblock is in your own mind. Below are 3 ways to kickstart a project when you have a blank slate and don’t know where to begin. ⏱️ Run a “30-minute drill”: When you receive a new task or email, give yourself a 30-minute window to take the first step, no matter how small. 🚀 Determine your “launch pad task": Identify the step that will generate momentum for the larger work ahead. 🏄 Allow for a “10-minute surf session”: Surf the web and spend ten minutes learning something new about the project topic.
