In today’s retail landscape, balancing e-commerce with in-store shopping is no easy feat. Consumers want convenience, but brands also need to maintain in-store engagement, reduce returns, and strengthen customer loyalty. This is where Patagonia’s partnership with Locally comes in, as highlighted in an insightful article by Meghan Hall at Sourcing Journal interviewing Mike Massey. The piece explores how Patagonia leverages real-time local inventory visibility to seamlessly guide online shoppers to brick-and-mortar stores—where conversion rates are higher and returns are lower. A few key takeaways: - Seeing, touching, and trying on products in-store leads to higher conversion rates. - Nearly half of online shoppers abandon their carts if local pickup isn’t an option. - In-store purchases dramatically reduce return rates, benefiting the brand and the environment. - Brands that invest in local retail partnerships maintain stronger customer mindshare and brand loyalty. Patagonia’s approach underscores an important shift: retail isn’t e-commerce vs. physical stores—it’s an omnichannel experience where each enhances the other. Reflecting on 2024: A Decade of Growth and Milestones As we close out 2024, it’s a moment to reflect on a truly transformative year for Locally. One huge milestone for us was: Locally turned 10! Our journey has been incredible from three founders brainstorming around a common problem to becoming a global company with a large, dedicated team. Here are some highlights from an amazing year of growth, innovation, and collaboration: 🔹 Strategic Leadership: We welcomed powerhouse additions to our leadership team, including a VP of Finance, VP of Retail Activation, and CMO, all of whom are driving focus and impact. 🔹 Retailer Expansion: Our new Retail Activation Team drove a 49% increase in stores sharing inventory, adding big names like Nordstrom, Kroger, Shoe Carnival, Inc., Foot Locker, Do it Best, Shoe Station, Champs Sports, and Dillard's Inc. Plus, tens of thousands of local specialty shops. And, they also onboarded almost 10,000 new retailers for transaction acceptance! 🔹 Product Innovation: We launched cutting-edge tools, including Locally API—a fully headless service, new Buy It Locally™ paths to purchase, and enhanced campaign attribution tracking—solidifying our position as the online-to-offline market leader. 🔹 Client Success: We partnered with over 100 new clients, strengthened relationships with brands like The North Face, YETI, and Trek Bicycle, and continued to prove Locally’s value in harmonizing sales channels for shoppers. 🔹 Marketing Evolution: From impactful PR campaigns to upgrading our client website, producing compelling new case studies, and launching the Omni-Seller Marketplace, we amplified Locally’s voice like never before. 🔹 Partnerships: We strengthened relationships with dozens of key players like ENDVR, Yext, and Google, taking collaboration to the next level. 🔹 Data Science Advancements: We’ve evolved from basic insights to actionable data with real-time analytics and enhanced attribution, giving brands and retailers the tools to make smarter decisions. We have now set the stage for an even stronger 2025. Together, we’re shaping the future of retail, where online AND offline, physical AND digital, direct AND wholesale work in harmony. Thank you to everyone—our incredible team, clients, and partners—who made this year possible. Here’s to pushing boundaries and achieving even greater milestones in 2025. The best is yet to come! 🎉 #Growth #Innovation #Retail #Omnichannel #Teamwork #ShopLocally
