Wrapping Up a Year of Stories: The LBC Book Club We’ve wrapped up another amazing year of the London Bridge City Book Club, held in partnership with our occupier, The Riverside Bookshop, at Winter by the River’s Little Glasshouse! The session was filled with lively conversation, laughter, and pizza as we reflected on the diverse genres we’ve explored over the past 12 months. Hi-Vis Day 2024 At London Bridge City, safety and security are at the heart of what we do. This year, we proudly supported Hi Vis Day through a collaborative initiative with Team London Bridge, the Metropolitan Police, and the British Transport Police. We welcomed a team of Police Officers and PCSOs on-site and partnered them with our Estate Officers to complete joint patrols across the Estate and the BID. This teamwork highlights our shared commitment to fostering a welcoming, secure, and safe environment for all who visit. We Will Remember Them. On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, we paid our respects onboard Imperial War Museums HMS Belfast, to honour and reflect on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces make on our behalf. It was incredibly special to pay our respects on this significant London landmark. The Bridge 2 Bridge Security Forum On Thursday, 24th October the Bridge 2 Bridge Security Forum was held aboard HMS Belfast, bringing together security professionals from across the London Bridge City portfolio and neighbouring areas as far as Blackfriars Bridge. This event provided an invaluable platform for knowledge sharing and industry collaboration. Dave Cox MSyl CiiSCM, Head of Security and Safety at London Bridge City, provided key updates, alongside Nick Morant, Director of Security & Community Safety at Team London Bridge, and Paul Johnstone, Counter Terrorism PROTECT Officer. Their insights underscored the importance of staying vigilant and informed on emerging security trends. The forum was supported by @Colin Mackinnon from PPSS, who delivered a fascinating presentation on protective equipment and body armour, sparking important discussions on safety innovation. Adrianne Carter, also known as the Face Whisperer, offered a captivating taster presentation on face reading and how it can be applied in the security industry to enhance situational awareness. These forums are essential in fostering collaboration, allowing security professionals to network, share best practices, and enhance community resilience. This week, we hosted a special edition of our London Bridge City Book Club in celebration of Black History Month. We had the privilege of welcoming esteemed author and academic Malachi McIntosh for an engaging Q&A session centred around his debut short story collection, Parables, Fables, Nightmares. The collection offers surreal, satirical takes on the complexities of modern life, and our discussion with Malachi provided deep insights into his experiences, his journey as a writer, and the influences of living abroad that shape his storytelling. Attendees enjoyed an intimate reading from the collection, followed by thoughtful questions and a memorable book signing and networking session. We’re grateful for our partnership with Riverside Bookshop in making events like this possible and a big thank you to Lombard Odier Group for providing the venue for our event. Thanks to a recent partnership with Project Youth, we have been able to take this commitment one step further by purchasing eight multi-person injury kits and two bleed cabinets. These life-saving tools are now readily available across the Estate - and they’re already making a real impact.   Bleed kits are crucial for emergencies, and Project Youth are working hard to educate communities about the life-saving role these kits can play.
