The Los Rios colleges make up one of the nation's most respected learning institutions. #ForEveryFuture
About us
At Los Rios Community College District, we help students reach their goals. We are one of the nation's most respected learning institutions and the second-largest community college district in California. Our students and alumni are the lifeblood of the Sacramento region. They are leaders, entrepreneurs, designers, explorers, teachers, healers, builders, and innovators. The four Los Rios Colleges – American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, and Sacramento City College – serve nearly 75,000 students throughout the Sacramento region. We offer a wide array of degree, transfer, and certificate programs to help students into the careers they’ve always dreamed of. Our mission is to provide a vibrant learning environment that empowers all students to achieve their educational and career goals. We are investing in new and innovative strategies to break down barriers to success, such as the Los Rios Promise, which guarantees free tuition for all first-time, full-time students at our colleges. The district’s 2,400 square-mile service area includes all of Sacramento County, most of El Dorado County, and parts of Yolo, Placer, and Solano counties. In addition to our four main campuses, we have six education and outreach centers in Davis, Elk Grove, Natomas, Placerville, Rancho Cordova, and West Sacramento. Our students are as diverse and multi-cultural as the communities we serve, and our colleges put equity at the center of everything we do. Sacramento's economy relies on Los Rios students and alumni. Over one million students have studied in our colleges over the years, meeting workforce needs for area employers big and small. The public’s investment in Los Rios is reaping huge dividends for the prosperity of our region.

The Promise to Career: Construction scholarship, funded by Kaiser Permanente, is designed to remove financial barriers for students pursuing careers in construction trades. It provides funding to cover essential expenses such as tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), transportation, and other costs required for participation in pre-apprenticeship and construction programs. By ensuring access to these critical resources, the scholarship helps create equitable opportunities for success in high-demand industries. For one CRC student, Alex Soon, the Promise to Career Scholarship was transformative. The funds allowed him to purchase the equipment required for his apprenticeship at ACCO Engineered Systems. Alex's story is a testament to the transformative power of employer-led collaboration, hands-on learning, and financial support. By aligning educational programs with industry needs, organizations like ACCO and initiatives like the Kaiser Permanente-funded Promise to Career scholarship ensure students like Alex are equipped to succeed in high-demand fields.
