#BREAKING: Two Minor Girls Intercepted in Namibia Before Forced Marriage At a transit point between Zambia and Namibia, monitors conducting a routine check noticed a man traveling with two young girls who appeared unsure of their surroundings. The trafficker’s evasive behavior and the girls’ lack of travel documents raised immediate concerns. Sensing something was wrong, the monitors separated the girls from the man for individual questioning. The girls, Thandi* and Maria*, explained that they had been told they were traveling to Namibia for work. However, as the monitors pressed for more details, inconsistencies in their stories began to emerge. Neither girl knew what type of job they were supposed to do, where they would be staying, or how long they would be away. One of them had only learned about the trip at the last moment, leaving her confused and unprepared. Then, in a sudden and chilling admission, the trafficker revealed that the real purpose of the trip was not for work—but for the girls to be married off to older men. The monitors immediately recognized the high risk of child marriage and exploitation, and law enforcement was called in to intervene. Without this interception, Thandi and Maria would have been taken across the border with no way to return home. The girls were safely removed from the trafficker's custody, and their families were contacted. Further investigation confirmed that their parents had no knowledge of the trip, solidifying the fact that they had been lured under false pretenses. The girls were placed in protective care until they could be reunited with their families. Thanks for helping us protect these two girls!
