You invest a lot in your website and marketing, but let all your efforts be vain in the international market due to little investment in translation and localization, which results in low quality. This picture of me was taken while I was listening to something that I found nonsense, in a way that I didn't expect or understand. When the friend who took it (while I was unaware) sent this to me, I thought: this must be my face when I see a company's marketing material or website that features many translation issues in Italian... and is objectively ineffective, while the brand has clearly invested a lot in the original versions and its reputation in general. What's the sense in investing a lot in your branding and marketing materials for one country, if you have a global presence and invest too little to achieve the same quality level for your customers from other countries? Not to mention when your copy in other languages damages the reputation that you've built with so much effort. We had an amazing #LocLunch #Catania last week: the perfect way to brighten a cloudy day! What a week as a translator! - 🤕 I don't feel very well, with some early flu symptoms. But I'm still on track! - 🤓 The week started very slowly, with just a few tiny marketing translation projects, so I devoted my time to something I had wanted to do for a long time: adding new sections and optimising the existing ones on my website! Since I really wanted some features, I found myself searching and learning about HTML coding 😁 It's still a work in progress, and I'll "launch" the revamped website once completed, but you can have a sneak peek here: https://lnkd.in/dRTyh3zg - ✅ I haven't been able to finish the revamping work yet because my pipeline suddenly got packed with marketing translation and transcreation projects for several clients. What's a CAT tool and how can it benefit both translators and translation buyers? A computer-assisted translation (CAT) tool is a piece of software used by translators to streamline the whole process. There are many options on the market, but they share some common features with the respective main benefits: ✅ The editor displays the source text (divided into smaller segments) on the left half of the screen and the target text on the right. ✔️ This helps make sure that nothing is involuntarily omitted and streamlines bilingual proofreading. ✅ With one or more translation memories, the tool informs the translator if a given segment is the same as or very similar to one that has already been translated. The translator can use the existing translation and make any adjustments needed. 🚀 This helps speed things up while ensuring consistency. For instance, a tagline will always be translated in the same way, which is essential for brand awareness. 💰 Many translators and translation agencies offer discounted rates for repetitions and fuzzy (partial) matches. ✅ It's possible to include one or more termbases (glossaries) per project. 💫 This helps ensure consistency and make sure that a client's preferred terms are used.
