This tour offered a fantastic opportunity to gain insights into the consulting world, including expectations, work-life balance, and the pathways available at top firms like EY. A heartfelt thank you to Courtland Crenshaw, whose dedication and organization made this trip possible. Your efforts truly enriched our amazing experience. We’re also grateful to the Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering for providing us with opportunities to connect with industry experts. I am very excited to share that we just hosted a fantastic week of ServiceNow-focused workshop sessions with the Luddy Consulting Association at Indiana University in Bloomington. Over four 2.5-hour sessions, we dove deep into the full SDLC of an Integrated Risk Management implementation, providing students with hands-on experience and insights into the world of technology consulting. I would like to give a huge shoutout to the following individuals who made this event possible: - From the Luddy Consulting Association, I would like to provide a thank you to Pavan Idnani, Sehoon Park, and Emily McGough on collaborating to help complete a successful week of workshops! - From ServiceNow, I would like to thank Alexa Petersen for setting up ServiceNow instances to develop in, as well as providing CSA certification vouchers to all the students! - From the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering I would like to thank Travis J. Brown and Ree Palmer Easton, MSEd for helping us get connected with the LCA! - A special thanks to Tyler Oberbroeckling, my colleague at Crowe, who co-hosted the event with me and was instrumental in making it a success. - Additional thanks to Abbi Feeley and Anthony Troiano from Crowe for helping set up the event! This event started with my curiosity back when I was an Informatics student at IU. I remember wondering what 'Technology Consulting' really involved. Seeing the same curiosity in today's students, Tyler Oberbroeckling and I wanted to clear things up. So, we teamed up with the Luddy Consulting Association to complete workshops that connect classroom lessons with the skills needed in the tech industry, giving students a taste of real-world consulting. Fun Fact: The Luddy School at IU is named after Fred Luddy, the original founder of ServiceNow, which added an extra layer of inspiration to our workshops! During the workshops, students engaged in: - Gaining a foundational understanding of ServiceNow's capabilities. - Developing within the ServiceNow platform. - Crafting and implementing user stories from business requirements. - Building and testing items in a live ServiceNow environment. - Earning the Certified System Administrator certification. - Learning the migration process between instances. Reflecting on my journey from an Informatics student curious about technology consulting to leading this workshop, it's been a fulfilling journey. Meet Emily McGough, the Co-President of Luddy Consulting Association! Emily is a Senior majoring in Informatics, along with minors in Business and Computer Science, and she's from Buffalo, NY. Outside of LCA, she is a Liberty Mutual TechStart Intern, INFO-I101 Lead Undergraduate Instructor and Women in Computing's Web Developer. "I joined Luddy Consulting because I plan on starting my career in Tech Consulting after graduating with my MSIS degree. When I first heard from Sehoon about LCA coming to life Spring 2024, I knew immediately that I wanted to become a member. The opportunities I saw coming through this organization were like nothing I’ve experienced in Luddy before. This will give many students a chance to explore career options in consulting and develop first-hand relationships with employers through different consulting firms, while also building their professional skills. 🎉 A huge congratulations to our team of Technology Consultants - Sankalpa Hegde, Rohan Chandorkar, Radhika Jindal, Tanisha Chandrasekaran - at Luddy Consulting Association for participating and securing the 2nd place in the Cross-Organizational Market Penetration Case Competition! Here are a few words about the team and the competition from Emily McGough, Project Manager at LCA, “Within less than a week, my team was able to come together to develop a solution for the Cuban Software Case Competition. Focusing on the market advancement from Cuba to the US, my team developed a system designed to integrate their software brand into the US into untapped channels.  They wanted to increase market awareness by expanding online engagement through social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter (X). They developed a SWOT analysis to highlight their analysis’ metrics and performance values within the case. After coming in 2nd place of the case competition, the Tech Consulting team will go to further develop their solution to present an in-depth solution to a panel of judges from the Deloitte consulting firm next Friday. Your active participation and enthusiasm truly made the event a success! A special thanks to Javier Yoshimoto for gracing us with his presence and making this event truly special with his insights, stories, and experiences in the world of consulting. Event Highlights: The evening kicked off with a captivating presentation by Javier on Consulting at EY. He elaborated on the diverse opportunities available, the culture, and what life at EY truly entails. We transitioned into a live interview-style panel. Our Co-Presidents, Pavan Idnani and Sehoon Park, took the stage to engage Javier in a candid conversation, interviewing him on his consulting journey, essential skills required to enter the field, campus resources, and advice for aspiring consultants. We then opened the floor for an interactive Q&A session. Attendees, board members, and general members had the opportunity to pose their burning questions to Javier. To wrap up the evening, we concluded with an open networking session, allowing attendees to connect, share ideas, and forge new connections in a relaxed setting.
