I'm excited to share that Lume (YC W23) has raised a $4.2M Seed Round led by General Catalyst! Data is frequently how organizations, technologies, and so many other systems communicate. And just like with spoken languages, when data formats or schemas differ, there are huge challenges that need to be solved. Understanding, transforming, and reviewing data has for too long remained a manual task that ends up being repetitive and time consuming. At Lume, we're reimagining what it means to map data. Our AI-driven platform lets you effortlessly automate your data mapping, accomplishing in just minutes what used to take days of work. Whether it’s ingesting customer data, normalizing API payloads, or mapping complex taxonomies, Lume makes transforming data simple. I'm grateful to mark this milestone alongside some of the smartest people I know: Robert Ross, Nebyou Zewde, and Nicolas Machado. It's been amazing being part of this team and we're continuing to grow--if you're passionate about data, AI, and interesting technical challenges, come join us! We're proud to be partnering with some incredible investors: Puneet Kumar and Brad Flora from Y Combinator, Quentin Clark and Max Rimpel from General Catalyst, Vinod Khosla from Khosla Ventures, Mike Maples, Jr from Floodgate, Nikhita Jaaswal and Fouad Farhat at Soma Capital, Sabrina Hahn, Devvret Rishi, Sam Stone, Ana Clara Martins, Sigalit Perelson Scharfstein, John Bautista, and others! Thrilled to share that Lume (YC W23) has raised a $4.2M Seed Round led by General Catalyst! This journey began with a question that nagged at me every time I faced it as an engineer: Why is data mapping still so painstakingly manual? In an era where technology evolves at lightning speed, the process of moving data between systems remained stuck in the past. It was a problem that not only I faced but one that has persisted for decades. So, we decided to tackle it head-on. At Lume, we're reimagining data integration. Our AI-driven platform transforms days of manual data mapping into mere minutes. User Permissioning & Roles is now live!
🚀 Lume just rolled out User Permissioning & Roles! This has been a top request from larger companies that need more control over who has access to different parts of the system. Here’s what it means: 🔐 Detailed control over permissions and access 🔄 Makes it easier to manage large teams with specific role requirements ✅ Custom roles for different teams and responsibilities Why now? 🛡️ Companies with sensitive data need stricter permissions to stay secure 📊 This gives admins more flexibility to delegate access without losing control ⚡ It’s built to grow with your team The core reason, really, was the importance to separate who can trigger the AI learning in our system, giving you more control of the AI direction. Curious how it works? Check the link in the comments or DM me if you want a walkthrough.

Sunday sync at the Lume (YC W23) office recently. A few thoughts on moving into a new office: - We spend 14 hours a day in the office. Might as well make it feel like a home. - Having your own private space is vital for your startup. It allows an isolated space to build company culture. - Find somewhere close to your team's home, especially if you're in-person. The core advantage of remote is replacing commute time with work / recharge time. If you can maximize that by living close to the office, do so. And, of course: - Exposed brick is a plus 🧱

Check out how Lume can help you speed up your data mapping AND manage mappers at scale!
🙌 Our customer just cut 5,000 lines of data mapping code with Lume (YC W23). Now, instead of maintaining all that custom transformation code, they’re using Lume to manage dozens of mappers with AI-powered automation—saving time and reducing manual work. So, what were those 5,000 lines for? Mapping API response payloads to internal schemas—a complex, repetitive process. With Lume, they’ve streamlined this and turned it into a more scalable, manageable workflow. The best part? Teams are getting creative with how they use our transformation tech. We’ve seen a lot of interest in API mapping, and we're already working on new features to make this process even smoother. It's great to see the different ways customers are leveraging Lume—we're excited to ship these new features.
