On June 18, 2024 Luminate hosted a webinar to discuss the release our 2024 Entertainment Diversity Report. Mark Hoebich and Kamala Avila-Salmon unpacked topics spanning ethnicity, gender, LGBTQ and other report findings. According to the report, both Film and TV content in the top 20 rankings had more diverse casts than those outside the top 20. This poses an opportunity for studios and streamers looking to increase viewership numbers because diverse projects show they resonate broadly and commercially. This highlights the importance of diversity practice as a default, not a supplement, to our everyday work. In Kamala Avila-Salmon’s words, we can ask ourselves intensive questions like "What is the level of representation of portrayal and inclusion in the script?” and then “Be able to get clear direction on how to amplify that in order to get content that resonates more broadly and more commercially". Watch the recap below.

From our latest "Streaming Watch" insights, fueled by Luminate's Streaming Viewership (M) product: "The second season of Meredith Scardino’s music satire, Girls5Eva, dropped on Peacock in May 2022. The series had become a highlight of Peacock’s spring comedy slate, amassing a dedicated following during its inaugural season. Upon its premiere, Girls5Eva performed well on the platform, holding a consistent lead of 7 million minutes watched over Peacock’s other headlining comedy original, Rutherford Falls.
