What does the Luxembourg population think about how the country can address #climatechange? This is the question the Luxembourg Climate Policy Observatory (OPC) is trying to answer in a #survey it has launched in collaboration with the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). Today, 35,000 randomly selected Luxembourg residents from age 15 and up will receive an invitation in the mail to participate in the online survey. Participation in the survey helps the OPC assess current attitudes around climate change and action, which in turn can inform climate policies that are both effective and reflect the preferences of the population. To ensure the survey is representative of the Luxembourg population, only those residents who receive an invitation by mail may participate in the survey. More information on the survey is available on the OPC website. Today, the Luxembourg Climate Policy Observatory (OPC) published an opinion addressed to the Luxembourg government on the phasing out of fossil fuel subsidies. This opinion relates to the ongoing debate in Luxembourg on the prolongation of subsidies introduced by the government to counter high energy prices. The OPC recognizes the importance of financial support for vulnerable consumers. However, fossil fuel subsidies delay the energy transition and may even lead to long-term carbon lock-in. https://lnkd.in/eJDa9riW Andrew Ferrone, Sabine Dörry, Enrico Benetto, Claire Dupont, Ariane König, Mirjam Kosch, Jean-Pascal van Ypersele
