Ongoing destruction has created an urgent need to restore healthcare facilities. In Kharkiv, the Regional Oncology Center is a vital place for cancer patients, where 360 people receive treatment every day. However, due to repeated shelling, its infrastructure has sustained significant damage: 47 windows in key buildings have been shattered, compromising sterility, comfort, and safety. LWF is reallocating its resources to support these crucial repairs to help over 22,000 vulnerable people each year. Restoring the windows not only protects patients’ health and safety 🛡️ but also provides them with much-needed comfort 🛋️, especially for those with weakened immune systems. This initiative emphasizes the importance of creating safe and resilient healthcare spaces in challenging times 💪. LWF #forhopeandafuture #StandWithUkraine #kharkiv

According to Karin Achtelstetter, project support in Ukraine during wartime is extremely important 🌍. In recent years, LWF (Lutheran World Federation) has actively assisted Ukraine, particularly in providing humanitarian aid and rebuilding affected communities 🤝. LWF has deployed its offices in Ukraine, which has allowed for effective coordination of efforts and support for those impacted by the war 💼. For example, the organization has implemented projects aimed at providing medical 🏥, psychological 🧠, and material assistance 🛠️, as well as supporting education 📚 in the regions most affected by the conflict. It is also important to note that during the war, LWF has been able to gather significant resources thanks to international solidarity 🌐. This not only facilitated a rapid response to humanitarian needs 🚑 but also helped restore trust among the population that has experienced difficult times ❤️. Analysis shows that such support not only addresses urgent issues but also lays the groundwork for long-term recovery and development in Ukraine 🌱.

Every day, the team of the Lutheran World Federation continues to work in Ukraine, providing support and assistance to those who need it most. According to our research, residents of Kharkiv are facing numerous challenges that require urgent solutions. The needs we have identified encompass housing, education, medical services, psychosocial support, and social programs. These aspects are critically important for the city's recovery and the improvement of its residents' quality of life. According to the WHO research analysis, Ukrainians who have experienced hostilities primarily require access to quality medical services and psychosocial support. This confirms our observations in Kharkiv, where over 50% of respondents reported difficulties in accessing medical services. Support provided by organizations such as LWF becomes an essential step in rebuilding trust and meeting the basic needs of residents.

The war in Ukraine continues to inflict heavy losses on the educational infrastructure. Kharkiv and the region have become some of the most affected areas due to regular shelling, causing significant destruction to schools, kindergartens, and universities. According to analytical data, a substantial number of educational institutions have been damaged or destroyed as a result of hostilities. This poses serious challenges for the local community and threatens the region's future. Children and youth lack the opportunity to study in safe conditions, which could have long-term negative impacts on their education and development. However, local authorities, with the support of international partners, are working on restoring damaged facilities. At the same time, Kharkiv communities are finding temporary solutions—organizing remote learning and creating safe educational spaces for children. Restoring educational infrastructure is not only a matter of education but also an important step toward a stable future. It will facilitate the return of children to learning and help communities gradually resume normal life despite the challenges of war. We believe that through the joint efforts of the authorities, civil society, and international partners, Kharkiv can not only overcome the consequences of the war but also create new opportunities for educational development.

Bishop Pavlo Schwarz shared his thoughts on the challenging situation in Ukraine, emphasizing that the frontline is dangerously close to civilian areas, posing significant risks to local communities. Despite these challenges, the LWF team continues its efforts in Ukraine, supported by the solidarity of the international community. "We are deeply grateful for the solidarity and assistance we receive from our partners worldwide. It enables us to provide essential support to those affected by the war," the bishop noted. Despite the hardships, international solidarity allows the delivery of vital resources and aid. This not only addresses current challenges but also lays the foundation for future recovery and community development.

Today, a house that was restored by the efforts of our team as part of the humanitarian mission of the Lutheran World Federation has been destroyed. This house was a symbol of hope and recovery for many people who suffered, and we understand how important this assistance was. Our organization has always advocated for the support and restoration of housing for those who have endured the most challenging times. We deeply sympathize with all who have been forced to face the loss of their homes once again and reaffirm our commitment to continue working to help the affected communities. The Lutheran World Federation strongly condemns actions that lead to the destruction of restored infrastructure and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis. We will continue to contribute to the rebuilding process and support those in need, staying true to our principles of compassion, solidarity, and human dignity.
