Yesterday was the final Macomb Partners meeting of 2024! Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Cambria Hotel in Shelby Twp. to celebrate the many accomplishments across our county. Our department was able to achieve many feats this year, but much of it wouldn't have been possible without our partners. Macomb is what it is today due to the hard work of municipal leaders and local stakeholders. So partners -- cheers to you and the new year! 🎉

Over the past year, Macomb County has worked to update its five-year Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan. This new plan will guide park development and investments in recreation amenities through 2029. Under the State of Michigan’s Guidelines for the Development of Community Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Greenway Plans, the County must update their parks and recreation strategy every five years to be eligible for grants from the state. To fulfill the state’s requirements for adopting a new plan, the draft document is now available for public review and comment. The 30-day period runs from December 10, 2024 - January 8, 2025. Find the draft plan and more here:

Crying happy tears over here! Our MCPED coworker, Audrey Cox, is featured in this heartwarming video produced by Verizon, the NFL and the Detroit Lions. Audrey's bonus son, Lance Cpl. Jacob Rinehart, was recently surprised with a Thanksgiving gameday experience to recognize his bravery and fortitude in overcoming a spinal injury. Thank you Jacob, and Audrey, for sharing such a special moment with the world. We're proud to have you on our team.

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union hosted an appreciation luncheon for their school and business partners the other day, and our Senior Outreach Specialist Jennifer Weot was in attendance in support of our Fueling the Talent Pipeline initiative. Notably, several Macomb County high school culinary programs provided deserts for a friendly and delicious competition, and guests were able to cast their votes. Congratulations to Clintondale, Romeo and Roseville HS for taking the top three spots! Incredible to see this next generation of our workforce in action. #talent #workforcedevelopment #macombcounty
