Our mission at Magnopus has been to unite the physical and digital worlds with extraordinary experiences. Today marks a big step forward for us and anyone who wants to build a future where these cross-reality experiences are interoperable across devices and platforms. We’re open sourcing our Connected Spaces Platform. 🚀It’s now under the permissive Apache 2.0 free software license for any developer interested in more easily creating persistent, real-time spatial experiences connected across physical and digital, accessible across multiple platforms and devices. Our teams across the US and UK have worked on this technology for the past five years, at times with as many as 60 people. It’s been tested on public experiences and private betas with developers, it’s even been listed in TIME’s Best Inventions 2022. 🏆 Now, by going open source, we aim to contribute to the foundations for a more open and diverse spatial web that brings people together in shared experiences, and that communities can build on together. Seeing mood boards and art direction that only existed in a deck eight months ago come to life in Times Square behind Ice Spice and Snoop Dogg was a top 3 career moment for me. So wild! Four artists, four weeks, one IRL kick-off concert, and one epic finale (tune in November 30th at 2 PM ET!!) that we can’t wait to show you. 🦋 I had such a blast on all things Ice Spice—massive thank you to Tim Elek who pulled me into the project! We had a lot of fun leaning into her tour visuals and set design to inspire her in-game POI, which also gave us our Y2K foundation for our marketing VisID.
