Building value through acquisition: Roll-up vs Holding Company Serial business acquirers—who add value to their portfolio by buying additional businesses—commonly follow either a roll-up strategy or holding company strategy. "The difference between the two is effectively that a holding company is buying a handful of companies that can operate relatively independently under one umbrella.
