As we head into this fraught week, I’m setting this intention: to give behavioral grace — to myself and my colleagues, family, and friends as we navigate the anxiety, fear, and anticipation of this consequential election. We’re in this together. Now is the time to harness our patience, compassion, and empathy as leaders. #election2024 #anxiety #reflection #grace #leadership #workculture #humanity

  • We are excited to help support Modern Executive Solutions, Modern Giving Foundation, and Children's Tumor Foundation with a month-long charity engagement campaign called #NoNFNovember to help raise awareness and funds to end NF, a rare disease impacting 4 million people that's super crappy and should def be eliminated. Majorness..... engage.

#NoNFNovember To everyone who this touches: This may be the most important post I’ve written on LinkedIn (at a minimum simply REPOST THIS MESSAGE): Today we launch a campaign and a movement, “No NF November,” a powerful initiative in partnership with the Children’s Tumor Foundation, several other children’s charities, and countless academic institutions and children’s hospitals around the globe. This campaign is all about raising awareness and finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis (NF), a devastating genetic disorder that causes unpredictable tumor growth in children. Here’s the Challenge: Throughout November, we will be sharing a moving story every day at 4PM ET. These stories will showcase the real-life impacts of NF, told by patients, parents, celebrities, medical professionals, and leading clinical institutions. Why 4PM ET? Because there are 4 million people living with NF who deserve to be heard, and we are here to amplify their voices! I challenge each of you—individuals and organizations—to not just read our daily posts but to like, comment, and repost them on your LinkedIn pages and social media channels. Let’s start with this post! To repost, click the “REPOST” button at the bottom of this message and follow the prompts. Please, put it in your calendar to join us for 3 minutes every day this November at 4PM ET as we uplift these impactful stories and unite for #NoNFNovember. Together, we can make waves!   We’ve also set up a dedicated fundraising page: www.ctf.org/nonfnovember 100% of the funds raised will go directly to research that aims to end NF. A Bit About Modern: When Michelle and I started Modern Executive Solutions, we knew we wanted to create something special—a company with a purpose that goes beyond profits. We wanted to make a real difference in the world. That’s why we founded the Modern Giving Foundation (MGF), our nonprofit arm dedicated to raising awareness and funds for causes that matter deeply to us. In just three years, MGF has committed over $3 million to support more than 50 charities. We are incredibly thankful for the chance to create awareness and drive real change. Thank you for your support, and let’s make a difference together this November! With passion and purpose, Mark CEO Modern Executive Solutions ***** This post is part of the #NoNFNovember campaign to raise awareness and funds to end NF. Please repost this story by clicking the button below to “Repost”, and encourage everyone you know to look for a new #NoNFNovember post here every day at 4PM ET, and visit www.ctf.org/nonfnovember to contribute what they can to end NF. All funds raised in this campaign will go directly to Children’s Tumor Foundation and the fight to end NF. #NoNFNovember, #EndNF, #Neurofibromatosis, #ChildrensTumorFoundation, #NFResearch, #MakeNFVisible, #NFHeroes, #NFCommunity, #RareDisease, #GeneticDisorders, #HopeForACure, #NFWarriors, #NF2, #NF1, #ShineALightOnNF

  • Still coming down from last weekend with Minor Figures at Portola Festival in San Francisco! MF’ers Joseph Monroe Olender and James Outlaw partnered with Hogan Shrum, Carrie Goggans, A Little Bird and the Minor Figures team (s/o Francesca S.!!) to take festival goers on a #TasteTrip with Oat Milk Lattes and a crazy visual experience inside a giant Minor Figures carton, all documented by legendary 📸 Mark "The Cobrasnake" Hunter. The vibes were high and the people were caffeinated all weekend long!

  • Last week we had the great honor of hosting a cohort of students from Germany’s University of Applied Sciences (HTWG) International Leadership and Development Program for a panel during their trip to NYC.  Jeremy A. Tucker, Joseph Monroe Olender, and Katie Horwitch talked all things brand, leadership, entrepreneurship, and - most importantly - Soho dinner recommendations. Danke HTWG! 🇺🇸🤝🇩🇪

Today in Fast Company, Major Futures Senior Advisor Christie Smith Ph.D says that strict RTO mandates like Amazon's lack imagination, and hold workers back from being their most productive, while also ceding ground to competitors in the global war for top talent. Fresh data shows that these mandates often come at the expense of an honest look at the underlying challenges that drive lack of engagement from the workforce. Christie argues that new thinking, creativity, and courage from leadership is needed to truly liberate workers to be their most effective. "The unintended consequences of these mandates, particularly for women, are already becoming clear. A survey from Upwork revealed that among C-suite leaders who enforced RTO policies, 63% saw women disproportionately quit as a result, and 57% say the loss has hurt productivity for their organization. Plus, Deloitte’s 2023 Women at Work Report determined that a lack of flexibility is one of the top-cited reasons for women who chose to leave their employer. This is a talent drain companies cannot afford and it is a significant loss of senior talent, creativity, and leadership, which carries long-term negative consequences for innovation and business performance. Flexibility is no longer just a perk—it’s a necessity... 87% of Americans want to work in a flexible environment. Younger generations, especially Gen Z, are rethinking work entirely, opting for freelancing or consulting careers that offer autonomy and flexibility. Companies ignoring these trends risk losing their most skilled employees in a tight labor market and risk losing out on the innovation that younger generations can bring."

POV: Amazon's RTO mandate is a massive failure of imagination
