Happy Monday! Let’s talk about momentum. Starting the week strong sets the tone for everything that follows. But here’s a thought: momentum doesn’t come from massive wins—it’s built on small, consistent actions. In business development, I’ve seen deals come together not because of a single big pitch but because of the smaller, intentional actions leading up to it: ✅ Following up on an email that went unanswered. ✅ Sending a quick “thought this might interest you” article to a client. ✅ Offering to help before you’re even asked. These seemingly minor moments build trust, confidence, and eventually—success. So, as you plan your week, think about this: What’s one small action you can take today to move the needle? It doesn’t have to be earth-shattering; it just has to happen. Let’s make this week productive, intentional, and full of momentum! 💪 What’s your first move this morning? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear how you’re starting strong. #MondayMotivation #BusinessDevelopment #ClientRelationships

First Impressions Matter—But Are We Paying Enough Attention? When I walked into the final round of interviews for a business development role at a prestigious law firm, everything changed. Until then, it had been a smooth, virtual process. But as I entered the firm’s impressive office, I encountered something that caught me off guard. There were two receptionists at the front desk. One greeted me with warmth and a welcoming smile. The other seemed distant, unfriendly, and unapproachable. In that brief moment, I paused, unsure how to proceed. Instinctively, I approached the friendly receptionist, and the interaction went smoothly. Spoiler alert: I got the job. But something about that moment stuck with me. This was a big law firm, and one of the first faces a client—or a prospective hire—sees was someone who came across as disengaged and unwelcoming. It left me wondering: How can a firm focused on client service miss something as basic as the impression their front desk staff creates? In my first weeks, I kept observing the dynamic. The unfriendly receptionist was a constant. No eye contact. No proactive greeting. And yet, she remained the first point of contact for clients and visitors. Here’s the question I’ve been grappling with: How much damage is being done by overlooking something this fundamental? This isn’t just about one person—it’s about recognizing the vital role of every touchpoint in a client experience. Frontline staff like receptionists are not “minor” hires; they are brand ambassadors. They set the tone for what’s to come. For a firm that isn’t hitting its revenue or profit-per-partner goals, small things like this can have a big ripple effect. How many current clients, prospective clients or hires are left with a bad taste before even meeting the firm’s attorneys? Am I overthinking this? Or are too many firms missing the obvious? Let’s discuss. How do you approach frontline hiring? And if you were me, what would you do in this situation? #BusinessDevelopment #FirstImpressionsMatter #biglaw #clientexperience

Let’s be real—how many of us started in marketing or BD roles without really knowing what we were doing? 🙋♂️ I know I did. It’s easy to feel lost when you’re told what to do, but not why you’re doing it. If you’ve ever felt like you’re ‘winging it,’ trust me, you’re not alone. What’s something you wish you understood better in your role? Let’s talk about it. #MarketingLife #BusinessDevelopment #ClientDevelopment #BDChallenges #wegotthis
