The holiday season is a time for joy, celebrations and gatherings with loved ones. But it's also a time to prioritize safety and responsibility. December often sees an increase in impaired driving incidents, making it essential to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The statistics are staggering—over 40,000 lives were lost in alcohol-related traffic accidents last year, according to the National Safety Council. This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safe and sober driving. Plan Ahead to Prevent Impairment: -Designate a sober driver -Use a taxi or ride-sharing service -Arrange for an overnight stay at a friend’s Impairment isn't limited to alcohol. Drugs, including opioids, marijuana and some over-the-counter medications can impair your ability to drive by causing drowsiness, altering visual perception and affecting judgment and motor skills. Fatigue and stress can also impact your ability to drive safely. This December, commit to making the roads safer for everyone. By planning ahead and avoiding impaired driving, we can make the holidays a time of celebration—not tragedy. #DriveSober #StaySafe #HolidaySafety #ResponsibleDriving #DecemberAwareness #NationalSafetyCouncil
