As the principal contractor for the Stockinbingal to Parkes section of Inland Rail, Martinus is delivering critical upgrades, with the transformation at Wyndham Ave road bridge in Forbes being just one example of the complex brownfield work involved.
This was one of four sites tackled during a 100-hour 'super possession', coordinated with months of planning and involving 240 rail experts. The track beneath the Wyndham Ave bridge required significant lowering to accommodate double-stacked freight trains. Our teams worked around the clock, removing 320m of track, excavating 7,000m3 of earth, and lowering the track by up to 2m. We also installed in-ground drainage, rebuilt the track formation with structural fill and capping, and laid 500 sleepers along with 1,000 tonnes of stone ballast.
With the track reinstalled, tamped, and tested, the upgraded infrastructure is now ready for recommissioning!
Just one of the projects completed during the recent 100-hour super possession on the Stockinbingal to Parkes, NSW section of #InlandRail.
Over four days and nights, 7,000m³ of earth was moved and 320m of track was lowered and rebuilt at Wyndham Ave, Forbes.
Lowering the track under the road bridge by two metres creates the increased vertical clearance needed for double-stacked freight trains.
