On Wednesday, November 13, Constellation joined us at Smith for a takeover day! Undergraduate and graduate students had the chance to learn more about Constellation, gain valuable insights into exciting career opportunities, and discover how their skills and passions can contribute to the acceleration of a carbon-free future. The takeover day activities included: ⭐ Employer tabling ⭐ Brand activation game ⭐ Office hours with UMD alumni ⭐ Panel discussion: “Life at Constellation: Values and Culture” ⭐ Networking lunch Many thanks to Adrienne C. Anderson, Corey D. Allen, M.S., and Shannon Broughton for organizing this incredible day for Smith students, and to the terrific panelists for sharing their valuable insights with our students. Exciting Event Recap 🏙️: Smith in the City Last week, 98 undergraduate students traveled to New York City for the annual Smith in the City trip — an incredible opportunity to explore diverse career paths and gain hands-on insights into the business world. Here are the trip highlights: ⭐ 98 students in attendance ⭐ 5 distinct student tracks: ▶️ Accounting: 11 students ▶️ Consulting: 20 students ▶️ Finance: 24 students ▶️ Marketing: 22 students ▶️ Technology & Analytics: 21 students ⭐ 19 total host companies ⭐ 50+ UMD alumni involved in company visits and networking Students engaged with professionals, toured offices, and connected with alumni, gaining valuable insights into company cultures, career opportunities, and industry trends. A big thank you to the amazing employers for hosting our students, and to the panelists and alumni for sharing their expertise. Special thanks to the Smith Undergraduate Student Association (SUSA), especially Amy Cheng and the SUSA Events Committee, the OCS team, and our dedicated track leads and advisors for making this event such a success! 👏

Event Recap 📸: OCS x SBS Sports Industry Networking Combine On Tuesday, October 29th, OCS partnered with the UMD Sports Business Society (SBS) to host the Sports Industry Networking Combine! The event brought together passionate sports business students and industry professionals from various fields for a night filled with networking and career development. The evening kicked off with a panel featuring representatives from several organizations across the sports industry. They shared valuable insights and career tips to help students stand out in the interview process and secure roles in the field. After the panel, additional companies joined us in the VMH Grand Atrium for an employer tabling session. Students had the chance to polish their networking skills and learn more about the wide range of opportunities available with local organizations. We were thrilled to see our students take the opportunity to network with industry professionals and build lasting relationships that will benefit their careers. We extend a sincere thank you to SBS for their collaboration, to all the panelists—Tyrone Brooks, Kaitlin Brennan, and Sergio Brack—and to the companies involved, including the Washington Commanders, Major League Baseball (MLB), Washington Nationals, and Leveling the Playing Field, Inc., for making this event possible!

Event Recap 📸 : OCS x AMA Marketing Industry Events On Tuesday, October 22, OCS and the American Marketing Association at UMD (UMD AMA) hosted a series of marketing industry events. The evening began with the OCS “Marketing Industry Pizza and a Panel” session, where Smith undergraduate and graduate students had the chance to connect with marketing professionals from SoundExchange and Panda Exteriors, ask questions about the panelists’ current roles, and receive career advice and recommendations. Following the panel, AMA hosted its annual Marketing Employers Networking Night (MENN), a tabling event designed for marketing undergraduate students to connect with top employers and explore exciting job opportunities. Featured employers included GALLO, Flywheel, Gartner, Hassle Free Home Services, Panda Exteriors, Rip Current Sports LLC, SoundExchange, Stanley Martin Homes, Strategic Factory, and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. It was a highly successful evening of networking and career exploration. Many thanks to AMA for their collaboration and for hosting the MENN event, and to Arden Lawson for moderating the panel. Event Recap 📸 : Supply Chain Coffeehouse ☕ On Wednesday, October 16th, OCS partnered with the UMD Supply Chain Management Society to host the Supply Chain Coffeehouse! This event allowed students to engage in meaningful conversations with representatives from eight companies while learning about various roles and career paths in the supply chain world. This annual event was another success, full of great networking and relationship-building between our students and industry professionals! We want to extend a sincere thank you to the Supply Chain Management Society for their collaboration and to all the companies – ALDI USA, EY, Forerunners Consulting, J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., Johns Hopkins Medicine, PepsiCo, Target, and W. R. Grace – for making this event possible! We can’t wait to see our students utilize the experiences from this event in their college careers and beyond.
