You have one more day (!!!!) to support the 2024 5K Uganda Color Run for Pediatric Cancer. 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 👟 💨 The Uganda Color Run returns on August 3, 2024, in Mbarara, UG, at Mbarara University of Science & Technology https://lnkd.in/grCb2knQ The Color Run for Pediatric Cancer is open to participants of all ages and abilities and typically draws over 1,000 runners and brings together numerous organizers, volunteers, health providers and community members alongside Hospital leadership and other VIPs who attend. The event is an opportunity to communicate about cancer detection, treatment and care in a positive and inclusive setting; print, TV, radio and social media coverage of the Color Run helps to spread this information to a broader community beyond participants. The MGH Center for Global Health is proud to partner with our colleagues at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital to raise critical funds to advance and support pediatric cancer care in Uganda. Funds raised will be used for essential services and treatment-related expenses such as medicines, food, palliative care, and other gaps in patient care. Support MRRH’s fight against cancer in children. All donations will be matched by supporters of the MGH Center for Global Health. We are running a grassroots fundraising campaign to add support to our long-standing program between Massachusetts General Hospital / Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda to treat pediatric cancer in Uganda. This work is directly impactful - providing life-saving diagnostics and therapeutics as well as nutrition and social support to children and their families facing some of the toughest times of their lives, in a place with limited medical resources. No child should die of treatable cancer just because of where they were born - but unfortunately this is the stark reality of cancer deaths. We are working to change that in the short and long term by treating cancer while also advocating for more access to healthcare.
