MassCEC’s Net Zero Grid team is leading a Grid Services Study, exploring innovative solutions to meet local energy needs in reliable, equitable, and cost-effective ways. The study explores how distributed energy resources, or DERs, can provide valuable services to the distribution grid, at specific times and locations. This study seeks to answer: what is the value of those DER services, how much they should be compensated, and what are potential paths forward for implementation in Massachusetts? 📢 We’re hosting a public stakeholder session for additional input: When: Monday, March 3, 12-3pm (Eastern) Who: Anyone who is involved in DERs, energy programs, EJ engagement, etc. as it relates to energy in MA Register: https://lnkd.in/emuaBUwD Learn more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/eyfwn_cX A big thank you to our project collaborators: Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER), Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, Energy and Environmental Economics, Inc., RMI, National Grid, Eversource Energy, and Unitil.

ICYMI: InnovateMass applications are due March 17! This round will highlight grid-focused startups and solutions, through a "Gridtech Spotlight" opportunity to partner with a MA electric utility on a gridtech demonstration, including Eversource Energy, Unitil, Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC), and others! Please refer to our RFP for more information, which can be found at https://lnkd.in/eGGRn8xn. 📢 Here's what one of our grid-focused startups, NewGrid, had to say: "The MassCEC InnovateMass and Net Zero Grid grants were instrumental in enabling NewGrid to collaborate with ISO New England Inc., the regional transmission grid operator. ISO New England now has a decision support tool to improve congestion mitigation, a valuable tool for future ratepayer savings."
