The Maternal Health Network was established in 2018 to support families who are planning to get pregnant, who are pregnant, or who have recently delivered a child in San Bernardino County. The Maternal Health Network was established to support the following objectives set forth by First 5 San Bernardino: 1. Develop infrastructure to support a multi-disciplinary maternal health network for San Bernardino County. 2. Establish a shared understanding of assets and gaps within the maternal health system. 3. Create a strategic plan to guide efforts within the maternal health system for San Bernardino County. Our Vision: The Maternal Health Network of San Bernardino County empowers, respects, and supports families before, during, and after pregnancy to optimize health and well-being for babies and mothers Our Guiding Principles: - Equity: Across socio-demographic and geographic boundaries, comprehensive systems are in place which provide respectful, equitable, and effective care, eliminating health disparities. - Integrated: Across systems, providers and sectors collaborate to create a seamless, efficient, no wrong door for women who are pregnant and for those who have just delivered a child. - Access: Across multiple sectors, partners reach out to those not served and ensure services are provided to women where they are whether it be in jail, a program, or in the community. - High-Quality: Across the county, evidence-based practice is promoted, understood, and implemented to achieve the best outcomes for women and babies. - Support: Across the service spectrum, women are supported, feel safe, are treated with respect, and are provided the information they need to make the best decisions for their health and the health of their child before, during, and after delivery.

💖 Motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also be challenging—especially during the postpartum period. The Mamás y Bebés Mom’s Wellness Group is here to help. This two-month program, funded by Riverside County, gives moms tools to care for their mental health, recognize signs of postpartum depression, and build a strong bond with their newborns. Since 1997, CPQCC has been working to make NICU care better and more equitable for families across California. Currently, they are recruiting for a 2025 - 2027 California NICU Family Advisory Council (FAC) that will be made up of parents and family members who’ve been through the NICU experience; with the goal to use their stories to improve care for babies and families, especially in communities that need it most. Rutgers School of Public Health research found that New Jersey’s expansion of the Family Leave Insurance program in 2019 and 2020 was associated with a sharp increase in the use of family leave benefits among state residents. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released the "Newborn Supply Kits Reduce Maternal Stress and Improve Trust in Government: Results of the 2023 Newborn Supply Kit Pilot Program" report. The Newborn Supply Kit program delivers high-quality goods and resources to parents when they have a new baby. The kits include diapers, wipes, lactation supplies, information on government resources, and more.
