Mather is piloting hydroponic gardens! It's an exciting venture as we test our green thumbs. We are currently cultivating a variety of produce, including tomatoes, lettuce, and herbs, with the hope of implementing these self-contained mini gardens for older adults living in Chicagoland.

As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mather Institute, I am proud to reflect on the impact we have made in driving forward-thinking next practices for the senior living industry and Mather. This article offers a behind-the-scenes look into our journey and where Mather Institute is focused next. Thank you to Argentum and Tom Gresham for inviting us to share our story and applause to Cate O'Brien and the entire Mather Institute team for their dedication to research and creating Ways to Age Well.

We’re excited to share that a recent article in India Currents magazine showcases several research papers by Mather Institute's Mushira Mohsin Khan, PhD. Dr. Khan’s research explores changes that older South Asian-Americans are going through, including a shift away from relying on their children as they age, while still providing support and wisdom to children and grandchildren. Throughout June, we’ve traded our signature orange for a rainbow of colors to celebrate Pride Month! Team members and residents joined together for a variety of programs and celebrations, including do-it-together art projects, documentary viewings, sharing of quotes, and more—all as part of our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. #PrideMonth #DEI
