Building a Unified DataOps Platform | Always Curious | Ex- Pangaea

Last night, Matia hosted an incredible data dinner in Toronto together with Leaders Fund (Gideon Hayden, David Kamenetsky), bringing together some of the brightest minds. The room buzzed with conversations about challenges, solutions, and visions for the future of our field. Over great food and even better company, we shared insights, stories, and a mutual passion for making sense of the world's information. Moments like these remind me of the power of community in data and engineering. Building a data company isn’t just about lines of code or cutting-edge algorithms—it’s about people. A strong community amplifies innovation, creates lasting connections, and drives the collective growth of our industry. Whether it’s through sharing best practices, collaborating on projects, or just swapping war stories from the trenches, community is where ideas evolve and where solutions emerge. To everyone who joined us last night: thank you for making the evening unforgettable. And to the broader data community: let’s keep building, together. If you’ve ever hosted or been part of a community-driven event, I’d love to hear how it shaped your perspective or your work. Let’s keep the conversation going! 💬 #DataCommunity #TorontoTech #Networking #DataInnovation

Trust is the cornerstone of effective data operations. But in order to trust data, people need confidence that the data is correct.   Simple, right? Not exactly. Implementing a data observability strategy isn’t just about spotting anomalies, resurfacing AI models or making sure dashboards are accurate, it’s about aligning an org and making sure that data at every point in the pipeline can be trusted.

A smooth migration + 30% faster replication speed. 🤘 Those are just some of the benefits that business management platform HoneyBook saw when switching to Matia for data ingestion. “Within days, we were fully operational with no disruptions. Their platform has exceeded our expectations, allowing us to focus on data engineers on growth and innovation, rather than dealing with data headaches." - Nimrod Milo Link in comments for more.

Moving data efficiently is P0 for Ramp. Switching to Matia allowed them to speed up sync times from Postgres dbs to their warehouse from 3.5 days to just 4 hours. “Matia has been huge for us. We've seen significant improvements in reliability, fault tolerance, and product velocity...and reduced our sync time by more than 80%.” - Ryan Delgado 😃

We're pretty obsessed with data – moving it, securing it, and ensuring the right stakeholders can leverage it effectively. That’s why we keep a close eye on our own data as well and what's being used by our customers. Here’s a look at our top 5 most-used connectors in October: #1 – Snowflake #2 – Postgres #3 – MongoDB #4 – Google Sheets #5 – HubSpot

Absolutely thrilled to come out of stealth mode and finally share what we've been building since 2023 as Matia raises $10.5 million in funding. It’s been an incredible journey alongside my best friend, my brother, and co-founder, Geva Segal, who also happens to be our brilliant CTO. Together, with a dream team that has been relentless in pursuit of excellence, I’m proud to introduce Matia, a unified DataOps platform. Our mission is simple yet transformative: to change the way businesses work with data. Matia deeply integrate with dbt Labs and unifies ingestion, observability, catalog and reverse ETL into one powerful platform, creating an end-to-end experience that empowers data, engineering, and AI teams to take control of their DataOps strategy and drive impactful business outcomes. A special thank you to our early customers — Ramp, HoneyBook, Obligo, and dozens of others — for trusting us. And to our investors — Leaders Fund(Gideon Hayden) , Secret Chord Ventures(Omri Krigel), Cerca Partners(Haleli Barath) , Caffeinated Capital (Varun Gupta, Ahmed Elsayyad, Raymond Tonsing, Matthew Volosin), and others — thank you for believing in our vision from day one. In my conversation with Business Insider, I shared more about our journey, the story behind Matia, and our exciting path forward. Grateful to Riddhi Kanetkar for helping us tell our story. And we’re live. 🚀 Today, we’re thrilled to announce we’re launching out of stealth with $10.5 million in funding to build a unified dataops platform. When co-founders Benjamin Segal & Geva Segal started Matia, they wanted to solve a real problem they saw in the data and engineering world. They were managing and scaling large teams, and relying on disparate tools to move their data to Snowflake and back to their SaaS platforms, another tool to leverage their data lineage, and another one to monitor their data pipeline quality. Their teams were full of talented engineers, but they were spending most of their time piecing together their data stack and investigating anomalies, rather than focus on their core job. So they spoke to other data and engineering leaders about how they solved this problem. Everyone agreed it was an issue, but no one had the solution. And as more companies adopted AI strategies, the importance of an observability platform that natively monitored data before it was even ingested became even more important. So that’s where the idea of Matia was born: A unified dataops platform bridging together ingestion, reverse ETL, observability and catalog. 🧠 With pre-built connectors, data and AI teams can plug in seamlessly to the tools they use, and integrate with Databricks, Snowflake and even monitor transformations natively in dbt Labs. While it’s only the beginning of our journey, we’re grateful to have amazing customers like Ramp, Obligo, & HoneyBook onboard and already seeing incredible results, and backed by investors including Leaders Fund, Secret Chord Ventures, Cerca Partners & Caffeinated Capital. The best is yet to come. Follow our journey. Link in comments for more.
