Our very high-resolution satellite imagery can help utilities monitor vegetation encroachment in their right of ways in a more efficient manner than sending crews on the ground. Our imagery is integrated into AiDASH’s AI-driven tools to make access easier for energy companies. Bryan Smith, our Director of Product Management for the Maxar Geospatial Platform and 2D Product Portfolios, spoke about this process improvement at AiDASH Evolve 2024 and the recording is now available: https://lnkd.in/gn4KqVVB #energy #energyindustry #vegetationmanagement #utilityoperations #assetmanagement

We’ve been closely monitoring the historic wildfires in Southern California, which are having devastating impacts on the local community. To help support response, relief and recovery efforts, we’ve activated our Open Data Program, and we’re continuing to upload our very high-resolution imagery on MGP Xpress for download by the general public. 🔗: https://lnkd.in/e-WDDGPh (click on the "Open Data" button on the left-hand navigation menu). Frontline organizations—from first responders to nonprofits—and the broader geospatial community can download this imagery to map what’s changed on the ground and identify the most heavily impacted areas to ensure they allocate resources in the most effective and efficient way possible. Our thoughts are with all those affected by these fires, and we hope everyone is able to stay safe in the coming days and weeks. These images include a screenshot of the ODP content available on MGP Xpress and images of the wildfires collected on January 8th.

We’re a proud sponsor of the HMS Oardacious Valkyries, an all-female U.K. Royal Navy rowing team. They’re currently completing the “World’s Toughest Row,” a 3,000-plus-mile journey from San Sebastián de La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua. The crew’s mission with this unsupported crossing is to make history as the first and fastest all-women military team to row an ocean, while promoting resilience, unity and inspiration across the globe. We collected a very high-resolution satellite image on December 27, 2024, showing their vessel approximately 950 miles to the west of the African coast. The small rowboat is only 31 feet long, but we are able to see the boat in detail thanks to our 30 cm resolution collection capabilities. Everyone at Maxar is inspired by the HMS Oardacious team, and we’re continuing to cheer them on. #viewfromspace #satelliteimagery #hmsoardacious

We collected very high-resolution satellite imagery of the ongoing eruption at Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano, showcasing dramatic activity at the Halemaumau crater. Fresh lava flows have spread across the caldera floor, with a striking lava fountain visible along the eastern edge and intense heat signatures scattered throughout the crater. The first image provides a wide shot of the eruption, offering context for the scale of the event. Using our advanced shortwave infrared (SWIR) technology, we’ve captured a detailed look at the eruption’s intensity in image 2. SWIR imagery penetrates volcanic smoke to reveal active lava flows and hot spots. The bright colors in the SWIR image indicate hot, active lava, while the darker colors—shades of grey and black—represent cooler temperatures or land untouched by lava at the time of the image. Images 3 and 4 are color infrared, showcasing the eruption with a different perspective. These images highlight the contrast between fresh lava flows and the surrounding terrain, further emphasizing the scope of this volcanic event. #KilaueaEruption #HawaiiVolcano #SatelliteImagery #ViewFromSpace
