The MS in Finance & Analytics program builds technical skills while preparing students to take the next step in their career. As one component of last week's immersive residency, students visited Accenture offices in Charlotte for a candid discussion with MSFA board members David Schumacher, Clay Lewis and Winston Len. Students then participated in mock interviews with Accenture staff and MSFA board member Wanda (Wagstaff) Throneburg. One MSFA student reflected that the graduate program has uniquely focused on her professional development and expanding her network, and that she now feels more prepared for her upcoming interview for a financial analyst role thanks to the mock interviews. Thank you to the Charlotte Accenture office for hosting us, and to the board members and mock interviewers for sharing their time and insights with the students. As I pause to reflect on 2024 I find myself looking back even further. I am reminded of the profound impact teachers, mentors, friends, and community have had on me over the years. One late-life memory that stands out was the decision to obtain my Master's in Organization Development and Talent Management at Queens University of Charlotte. It was a wonderful experience that changed the trajectory of my life. However, this post is not about me but 4 exceptional individuals that I had the privilege to meet while I was at Queens. The men captured in this image share a common thread – they have all served as educators at Queens University of Charlotte in the MSTOD program. What I most admire is they are not just teachers, they are making a difference in the world. So, I pause to reflect and with gratitude, I say "thank you" Don, Ben, Greg, and Will. Without you knowing it, your actions, insights, and ability to inspire others have inspired me. Queens has a great team of MSTOD teachers, and each one put their gifted and unique fingerprint on my education. Here's to lifelong learning, drawing inspiration from those around you, and recognizing how you show up in the world matters. You never know who might be watching and who you might be inspiring. Reflect: Who has motivated and supported you over the years? Consider thanking them in your own special way. Also, I feel compelled to say #GirlPower and #WomenSupportingWomen! I have had and have incredible female friends, colleagues, and mentors. #Ripple #MSTOD #QueensUniversity #Mentorship #Gratitude #Community #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #Education #Support #Teachers #Modeling #Behavior #Integrity

We are excited to announce that Katerina Ivanov, Director of the MS in Finance and Analytics program at the McColl School of Business, has had her paper, "Optimal Early Retirement with Target Wealth," published in the prestigious Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. This research introduces a new approach to early retirement planning, exploring a target wealth constraint where financial wealth must exceed a specific threshold for retirement. The paper studies several early retirement models under this innovative framework. A big congratulations to Katerina and her co-author, Weidong Tian, on this outstanding achievement. We look forward to seeing the impact of this work and further discussions in the field. #McCollMSFA
