Hopefully, this will help move pharmacy forward and make changes in the way we care for patients.” In April 2024, Lauren Hynicka, Pharm.D, Associate Professor of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, won a McGraw Hill Pathfinder Award for the creation of two innovative elective courses for her students in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program centered on integrative medicine and nutrition. Meet Susan Shapiro – a Senior Professional Learning Specialist at CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology), where she teaches PreK-12 educators about the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework and its capacity to make learning more flexible, accessible and inclusive. For a second year, Susan will be a judging panel member for our 2025 Pathfinder Awards, helping us celebrate educators who have shown innovation and inventiveness in their approach to teaching. As she prepares to review this year’s submissions, we asked Susan: Why is innovation in education so important? Check out her response: "Educators wisely bring new ideas, tools, and methods to learning when they recognize that not all students are reaching their learning goals. These educators know that barriers to student learning live in designs, not students. These educators become innovators who change designs so every student has access to the goal." The McGraw Hill Pathfinder Awards honor three educators who have shown innovation and inventiveness in their approach to teaching, helping learners discover their unique path to success. Nominations are currently being accepted through January 17, 2025. Full Official Rules and entry requirements: https://mhed.us/4fjfmcR
