Welcome New Year's Baby, Dawson James! Born at 9:54 p.m. on January 1, Dawson was 8 lbs. and 2 oz. and is the first baby of 2025 at McLaren Northern Michigan! Congratulations to parents Jayley and Steven on the birth of their beautiful new baby boy! 🎊👶🎉

Meet Susan Gennette! Susan has been with our Environmental Services team as a Housekeeper II for two and a half years. Spending her days cleaning patient rooms, Susan finds immense joy in meeting new people and talking with patients and their family members. After not being able to help her wheelchair bound grandmother as a child, Susan finds that her work helps her fulfill that wish from her childhood. She is extremely proud of the work she does and is always working hard to do things efficiently and effectively. Outside of work Susan is a hunter who also enjoys doing all sorts of arts and crafts and spending time with her family. She also enjoys rooting for the Detroit Red Wings, enjoying a dinner at Lucky’s, or listening to her favorite band, Little Big Town.

Meet Jim Mort! Jim is the longest tenured volunteer with McLaren Northern Michigan having been here for over 18 years. Starting out just looking for something to do and to keep active, Jim finds immense joy coming in every Friday morning. Whether he is pushing patients or visitors around in wheelchairs, helping those that are lost find their way, or delivering flowers to patient rooms, you’ll find Jim walking around with a smile on his face. Volunteers like Jim play an essential role in our daily operations, and every day we are thankful to have them.
