Now that the Thanksgiving leftovers are gone, we wanted to share what we were up to on this special day. While many were celebrating with loved ones, our amazing team of staff and volunteers were hard at work delivering meals—and joy—to seniors who often spend the holiday alone. For clients like Christine, these deliveries mean so much more than a hot meal. They’re a reminder that they’re part of a community that cares. We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers who took time away from their own family celebrations to bring comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging to others. You are the heart of what we do! #Gratitude #Thanksgiving2024 #MealsOnWheels #VolunteerAppreciation

Our mission is to empower seniors and veterans to remain independent by nourishing their bodies, minds, and spirits.
About us
Our mission is to support the independence and well-being of seniors across San Diego County. Our nutritionist-certified meals are hand-delivered by an organized network of dedicated volunteers. The services we offer extend beyond the meals, however: volunteers also provide moments of human connection and vital safety checks to each senior, many of whom are isolated and may not see another person all day. We also deliver pet food for our seniors’ dog and cat companions, so everyone is happy, healthy and well-fed! Our challenge is to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for our services, and our vision is that no senior in San Diego County goes hungry or without vital human contact.

🌟 Many thanks to Congresswoman Sara Jacobs and her incredible team for visiting our new Kitchen and Senior Innovation Hub today! Way to go Maya Madsen and welcome to the Board! We can't wait to engage your expertise on kitchen operations and serving underserved communities. And, let's be honest...cookies. Boy, do we love cookies. Feel free to bring us allllllllll the cookies.
I had the pleasure of meeting Maya Madsen when she spoke at our Rotary meeting this summer. I found her to be engaging and inspiring, and immediately implored our executive team and board members to court her to join our board. And now, I am thrilled and proud to say she is our newest Board member at Meals on Wheels. And, by the way, she makes the best freaking cookies in town - vegan or otherwise! 🍪 Welcome, Maya, and congrats on your success, both in business and in helping to lift others!
Opinion: Community support, access to capital helped my entrepreneurial journey
