MRN joins the PACT Consortium to define and measure the impact of decentralized clinical trials for the BioPharma industry. Todd McGrath, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Home Trial Support at MRN said: “With the clinical trial landscape becoming increasingly competitive, the complexity of protocols rising and Sponsors now under more pressure than ever to produce successful diversity action plans, it’s imperative that we examine how decentralizing clinical trials can deliver trial objectives while maintaining cost effectiveness. Being a part of this forum allows us to bring nearly 20 years of DCT learning to the table and examine the impact of DCT solutions that can further enhance how we build trials for Sponsors, sites and patients, while contributing to the industry as a whole - driving innovation that will result in more effective and efficient ways to conduct clinical trials. Patients participating in clinical trials should be representative of the population that will receive the approved marketed drug. However, people of colour account for only 2 to 16% of trial participants. As an industry we must tackle key barriers to recruiting diverse patient populations, including: - Rigid trial designs - Over-reliance on the same trial sites - Failure to address patient-specific burdens As an industry stakeholder, what are your thoughts on how we can effectively overcome these challenges? Except that is exactly what keeps happening. Sponsors and CROs are using the same sites for their #clinicaltrials, which means they are repeatedly returning to the same patient cohorts. This sees those patient cohort groups not only diminish more and more each time, but it also leads to a trend where there is limited to no true #representation of a real-world patient population. Diverse patient pools are key to ensuring trial results reflect real-world populations, improving the accuracy and relevance of outcomes. Click the link below to learn how MRN’s site network enables access to diverse patient populations, accelerating trial timelines and improving outcomes https://lnkd.in/euzEG89H

The FDA's four-part guidance series on patient-focused drug development (PFDD) aims to make trials more inclusive and effective by prioritizing what truly matters to patients. By centering trials around patient experiences, the FDA’s guidance helps improve #recruitment, #retention, and the overall quality of trial outcomes.
