The MedTech CEO-Only Forum jumpstarted JPM 2025 with 140+ CEOs...and remember that the Lifeblood of a MedTech company is its PEOPLE that use their talents to come together as a team to build a company, the CAPITAL needed to keep the doors open for the company, its IP to build the moat from competition, and the LEGAL COUNSEL that shepherds the company along the way to a hopeful regulatory approval, commercial launch, merger, acquisition, or IPO! When building teams and in need of business advisory get the right Lifeblood for your company...and by choosing the right IP and corporate counsel you will likely have a Goodwin 😉 (You see what I did there?) Lifeblood is a talent and business advisory firm providing venture-backable MedTech companies with services for their core needs: People & Capital. We do this through our offering of executive search, full team recruitment, fractional CFOs, investor relations, and corporate development. www.lifeblood.com Reach out to Giovanni Lauricella at giovanni@lifeblood.com to learn more. Goodwin is a full-spectrum corporate law firm with a dedicated MedTech practice. Whether you need to start a company formation if you are getting off the ground in the U.S. or entering the U.S. market, IP strategies, regulatory guidance, or gearing up for an exit...or the in between and day to day corporate counsel, Goodwin has you covered. www.goodwinlaw.com Reach out to Martin Gomez at mgomez@goodwinlaw.com to learn more.
Does JPM stand for “Joint Pain & Maddening” or “Joy, Passion & Magical”? If you hustle the hills of San Fransh*tshow to squeeze the juice from this MedTech circus to start the new year then the answer is “both.” Lifeblood and Goodwin started JPM 2025 by hosting the MedTech CEO-Only Forum where we filled this gorgeous space with 140 CEOs due to maximum capacity and had another 11 CEOs up against the glass looking in. What happened in this room was joy, passion, and magical. What happened after this event was joint pain and maddening once we flooded the streets bouncing from meeting to reception (on rince and repeat for 4 days). In the photo where EVERY CEO is raising their hand was the result of asking, “who is raising capital?” From there it was 2 hours of discussion led by Giovanni Lauricella, Ramin Mousavi, Nick Damiano, Liane Clamen, Juliana Elstad, Robert Hamilton, PhD, and David Israeli, MD where we covered building teams, fundraising, board management, vendor selection, and the rest I’ll keep a trade secret so you can find out for yourself at our 2026 CEO Forum. 😉🔥 The CEO discussion flowed like wine after a State of the MedTech Union fireside chat with David Roman, Managing Director for MedTech at Goldman Sachs, and moderated by Martin Gomez, Partner at Goodwin, and Giovanni Lauricella, CEO of Lifeblood, where we covered his 2025 outlook report and dissection of what happened in 2024. Huge thank you to David Roman! One of the last photos is of the handsome Colorado skier ⛷️ Eric Goslau, CEO of Transverse Medical Inc, who I will forever credit for impregnating me with the idea and opportunity for curating these MedTech CEO-Only Forums, of which we have done for 3 years all over the world! 🌎 Another shout out goes to Caitlin Morse, CEO of BrainSpace, for taking the bull 🐂 by the horns in our CEO Forum at MedTech Strategist in 2023 and pushing me to figure out how to do it at JPM. We figured it out and it’s now part of the annual event! It takes a village to make wonders and this year’s Forum would not have been possible without Goodwin, Martin Gomez, Eric Goslau, Caitlin Morse, Lifeblood, and all of the CEOs who didn’t take investor meetings and instead contributed to helping their peers make the lonely road of being a CEO less lonesome! The 2025 agenda is at the end of these photos and mark your calendar for 8:30a-12:00p on the Monday for JPM 2026 because we are doing it all over again! Thank you to those who took time to meet with the Lifeblood team this week! The time at JPM is valuable, and we greatly appreciate it! Lastly, to my sommelier friend, Artemio Contreras, who likely won’t see this post, thank you for letting us crash at your perfectly positioned apartment off of Union Square to make the joint pain & madness slightly less than it could have been and for that awesome vino at https://lnkd.in/eWqRaQZS - the best wine bar I’ve been to in SF! With love for JPM recovery, Giovanni Lauricella CEO of Lifeblood

It is debatable whether the MedTech industry aligns with the traditional venture capital model. It is not debatable that family offices are a viable source of capital for MedTech Startups. We dragged a panel of MedTech investing family offices to "The Rock in the Mediterranean" to have them share why family offices are suitable for early-stage MedTech companies when institutional venture capital likely is not. This is one of many reasons that make "MedTech Malta" an excellent experience...come back to the island with us on November 12-14 2025. Article: A new lifeline - how family offices are funding unmet medical needs: https://lnkd.in/ey2WRYs6 Panel: It takes a family office to raise a startup child Moderators: Giovanni Lauricella, CEO of Lifeblood Panelists: * Dan Jacob Gelvan, t-syte Ltd. * Pablo Prieto, CG Health Ventures * David Prim, PhD, Broadview Ventures Inc * Steven Levy, Unorthodox Ventures Learn about why family offices are an ideal source of capital for MedTech... Giovanni Lauricella - "MedTech is a long journey of development that takes on the additional hurdles of regulatory approval, reimbursement, and commercialization risk. Our innovation industry is getting the goal posts moved further and further away by having more pressure to have technologies turn into de-risked, revenue generating companies where corporations would rather pay more for accretive top line value than taking on the clinical and commercial tasks. All of this effort takes more cash and more time where fitting into a 10-year horizon of an institutional fund is getting more challenging and forcing the early-stage companies to look at more patient-capital investors. This is where family offices come in to assist in bridging those gaps, however, each family office is different, which creates the fundraising process to be that much more of a networking hustle for the founding entrepreneurs." One of the many reasons Lifeblood moved to #Houston, Texas...for MedTech. Listen to this beat while reading: https://lnkd.in/eUx4yXve Angel investors, physicians, entrepreneurs, academic research partners, and serial entrepreneurs with exits share why the Bayou City, H-Town, and Culinary Capital of the South with the largest Medical Center in the World is our home and well-positioned hub for MedTech Startup innovation. This insight is from the "Rock of the Mediterranean" at MedTech Malta 2024. Read this article: Timeline - How #Houston became home to the largest medical center in the world: https://lnkd.in/gFsawXru Panel: Why Houston MedTech? Moderators: John Sousa, M.D. & Giovanni Lauricella of Lifeblood Panelists: * Homer Quintana, Houston Methodist * Bob Shaw, Houston Angel Network * Albert Huang, MD, Stealth Startup after an exit * Meagan R. Pitcher, Ph.D., Bairitone Health * 🦸♀️ Swarna Balasubramaniam, MD, Noleus Technologies * Justin Bird, MD Anderson Cancer Center Learn about why Houston is the spot for a long future of growth for MedTech. Giovanni Lauricella - "For anyone who has moved their family or a business or for those crazy enough to move both at the same time (with a pregnant wife), you do not make moves like that unless you are forced to or unless you are compelled to. The Houston ecosystem and for the laundry list of reasons as to what makes this place ideal to raise a family and grow a MedTech business are the the reasons that compelled me to make the moves we did in 2024 when we did not have to. This place has a soul and is the land of opportunity like many feel about 'the good 'ol days.' And, the people are special. Houston will be synonymous with 'MedTech Hub' like we think about other coastal cities in the very near future...and we are building that hub and community right now." Come to #Houston...you will rip off the rearview mirror. With love for Houston MedTech, Giovanni Lauricella CEO of Lifeblood www.lifeblood.com Talent Recruitment & Business Advisory for MedTech

Altruistic Masochists: Serial MedTech Entrepreneurs share why they keep on going back for more on the stage on the "Rock of the Mediterranean" at MedTech Malta 2024. Exit after exit...new company after new company. Why? They could be drinking tequila on a beach for the rest of their lives or in other words...they could do whatever they want, yet they keep on keeping on with building and running MedTech companies to develop solutions for patients. *Amir Gross - "It's addictive..." *Daniel Hawkins - "I have a responsibility..." Panel: Serial Entrepreneurship Moderators: Joseph Snyder & Giovanni Lauricella of Lifeblood Panelists: * Youssef Biadillah, CEO of BariaTek * Anna Lisa Somera, CEO of Rhaeos * Daniel Hawkins, CEO of Vista.ai * Amir Gross, CEO of Cardiovalve Learn about why some of our entrepreneurs keep on doing the game of MedTech over and over again...even after they exit. Giovanni Lauricella - "My biggest take away from interacting with serial entrepreneurs in MedTech is that they are actually nice human beings that fundamentally want to help, mentor, and share their time with others to bestow what they have experienced to make life a little easier for those on the path. These people could be arrogant or not give you the time of day, yet they aren't that way...and that is how you can tell the personality of a true serial entrepreneur because they know the game of business is all about relationships and navigating people. And, if your personality leaves a wake of broken relationships and bad omens, you do not get far for long." Be kind. Share what you have learned with others. Work hard. Have a purpose. With love for the (continued) game, Giovanni Lauricella CEO of Lifeblood www.lifeblood.com Talent Recruitment & Business Advisory for MedTech
