2024 is winding down... But before we close the books, our team wanted to share some highlights from this year. We're excited to have made 5 new investments including Iron Sheepdog, Digit, Palm and Scorbit. We supported 14 of our portfolio companies as they raised over $64M in funding including Paccurate and Tembo. And cheered them on as they reached milestones: growing their team, securing strategic partnerships, winning industry awards, and releasing new products. The Portland fintech startup gives users the ability to cover large medical expenses, like high deductibles, with zero-interest loans they pay back through paycheck deductions over six to 12 months. Employers can enroll in MedZero and offer it as an employee benefit. The company notes that its fees are low compared with other typical employee benefits and the product can encourage employees to join high-deductible plans. How do you keep innovation at the forefront of your business or your own efforts? Our mission is to make health care more accessible, affordable, and equitable by enabling individuals to afford care whenever and wherever they need it. As leaders in this emerging market, every step involves innovation and a commitment to breaking down barriers. We're not just adapting to change, we're leading it. How do you inspire innovation within your workforce? Innovation is a core value at MedZero. The improvement in clinical outcomes is often at odds with health care affordability pushing us to continue to develop new programs and reach new markets. What is your biggest success in the past year? Through our embedded technology we have enabled individuals to access the care they need at no cost, regardless of their financial situation. This past year we've covered maternity expenses for the birth of new family members, provided funds for braces and other unexpected dental treatments, supported access to prescription medications, new eyeglasses, and even subsidized hip and knee replacements as well as an ER visit to treat an allergic reaction to a bee sting. Without our assistance, much of this care might have been deferred or created significant financial strain for employees. What are the challenges and opportunities ahead for your company's growth? Our opportunity will be to meet the growing demand for the continually increasing out-of-pocket health care costs for individuals across the health care ecosystem. As the population ages and treatments become more sophisticated, affordability will remain a significant issue even for those with health care insurance. What has you most excited professionally about the year ahead? Identifying new markets, developing new products, and helping individuals to get the care they need when they need it!
