This week many members of our team are going home. At our own farm, we utilize H-2A workers, who come from Mexico and South Africa. They are just a few of the hundreds of thousands of people who travel to the U.S. to help us grow and harvest crops. Many of these folks have been coming to work with us for years, 10+ years. The cost of travel and expenses (we provide housing, meals and transportation while they are here) is high, but their dedication is invaluable. The H-2A program needs reform, and it gets a lot of criticism, but it is the only legal way to hire workers from outside of our border. While any American can come and apply and we would be required to hire them, it has been years since anyone has applied. Let’s show some love to our team who leaves their families behind to come and help produce our crop. While we are sad to see them leave for a few months, we’re happy they get to spend the holidays with their families. Happy #NationalInternDay ! Today we’re celebrating this crew of interns at our Georgia operations, all from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 🍉 They have spent the last 9 weeks in operations and marketing in Georgia and we’ll cap it off with a tour of our FL HQ with them for their final week. They’ve done everything from generating social media content, recipe creation to checking in truck drivers and entering load information into our database. Please help us in recognizing Makayla, Alexis, Keshon and Nayeli for all of their efforts. The future of agriculture is bright!
