Last week, our team had the opportunity to tour the new Melrose Plaza - Roanoke, VA! This exciting development is already making a positive impact on Northwest Roanoke by offering high-quality, affordable food options through the Market on Melrose. The ladies pictured below were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The rest of the building, which is still under construction and slated to open in 2025, will feature financial services from Bank of Botetourt, a free public high school for adults, and a holistic resource center dedicated to health and wellness. It’s truly a resource hub that will help empower and uplift the entire community! 🎉

To celebrate the grand opening of the Market on Melrose, we proudly presented Dr. Elizabeth Ackley, Ph.D., FACSM of Roanoke College with a key to the market. 🔑 🛒 Alongside several of her students, Dr. Ackley conducted a study identifying Northwest Roanoke as a food desert. Their research highlighted the critical need for a grocery store offering fresh produce, healthy options, and a variety of essential resources.
