The first embedded observability platform that empowers teams to build more robust devices with software at scale.
About us
Memfault is the first IoT reliability platform that empowers teams to build more robust devices with software at scale. We believe that device reliability engineering will transform how developers build and operate IoT and edge devices with more productivity and more collaboration. As IoT applications continue to grow in complexity, it is more important than ever for developers to have Memfault’s performance monitoring, device debugging, and OTA update capabilities built into their fleet of devices for proactive device operations. We built Memfault to enable developers with a more scalable and sustainable process to accelerate go-to-market, de-risk product launches, cut product costs, and deliver overall superior products. By providing support for RTOS, bare metal, Android, and Linux devices, Memfault gives developers new flexibility and control over connected product development and device operations.

Memfault
Internet of Things (IoT) Software
Memfault is the first IoT reliability platform that empowers developers to build devices with software at scale by employing device reliability engineering (DRE) techniques. Memfault is a one-stop-shop for performance monitoring, device debugging, & OTA updates. Memfault can be integrated into any embedded device with Embedded Linux, Embedded Android (AOSP), & ARM or ESP32 MCUs irrespective of the RTOS or connectivity path. Using Memfault SDKs, full device coredumps, backtraces, debug registers, logs, & custom metrics are collected with ease. Because data structures collected are framed into packets as small as 9 bytes, they can be transported via Bluetooth, LTE, WiFi, LoRa, Zigbee, or even proprietary protocols with ease. Memfault analyzes data in the cloud to classify the issue, identifies a possible root cause, automatically deduplicates similar issues, & sends alerts when problems are detected. From the web app, you can view individual issues & get an overview of fleet health.

Building a Bluetooth-enabled IoT device? Here’s a pro tip: monitor what you can’t see. Blecon’s Simon Ford explains how hidden issues—like high retry rates in Bluetooth communication—may not trigger alerts but can reveal critical insights about your device’s true performance. Learn why tracking symptoms, not just errors, is essential for building reliable devices in the full discussion here: https://bit.ly/3ZxcJz6

Why Bluetooth Wins 🏆 Memfault's François Baldassari and Christopher Coleman were joined by Simon Ford for a fireside chat about Bluetooth—what it’s good for, when to use it, and a bit of a dive in to its past and future. In this snippet, they touch on why Bluetooth is often the pragmatic choice: 🌍 It's global. 🔧 It's easy to develop with. 💰 It’s cost-effective and well understood. François put it perfectly: “Bluetooth wins because it works.” Watch the full conversation and learn more at the link below ⬇️ #Bluetooth #CloudConnectivity #IoT

What does cybersecurity compliance look like for IoT devices in 2025? Our co-founder and CTO, Christopher Coleman, highlights three critical considerations: 1. Is your system capable of identifying vulnerabilities as they emerge? 2. Can you effectively determine the underlying cause of issues? 3. Do you have visibility into the software versions deployed across your fleet? If any of these questions left you uncertain, it’s time to prioritize device observability infrastructure. The typical hardware development cycles span 18 to 24 months and reporting obligations for these vulnerabilities start in 2026. Chris shares how Memfault's IoT compliance toolkit helps to streamline this process in a conversation with IoT Insider. "We see [an] opportunity to help folks on providing the infrastructure and tooling to allow them to do over-the-air updates, or track the assets that are running on their device.” Read more: https://hubs.la/Q02Z6CBD0
