🔬 After months of analyzing & pondering AI product strategies through my lens, I've identified 3 sustainable business models for AI products. 🎯 First, let's simplify the requirements: 🔶 It needs to create a competitive advantage (MOAT) 🔶It needs to provide business value 🔶It needs to sustain a major update of LLM models (ChatGPT, Claude..etc.) 🚫 What doesn't work long term: Simple GPT wrappers with single use cases are highly vulnerable - either to being integrated into future LLM updates or having too much competition. 💡 Here are the 3 viable pathways I see: 🎯 Domain-Specific Excellence: Build highly specialized solutions with proprietary data and deep industry expertise. While LLMs maintain broad capabilities, they can't/won't match the precision of purpose-built solutions for specific sectors. It's certainly difficult to build accurate models with specialized data. But once you do: there is very little competition. 🔄 Broad Play: Start with a solid MVP, then systematically expand into complementary use cases. Think platform approach rather than point solution. The key isn't a perfect accurate AI, but creating an interconnected suite of solutions that deliver compound value. 🛠️ Instead of making applications, make the tools: It can be hardware (data centers, specialized processors) or software (development tools, middleware). I took a look into this data-driver report by Startup Genome. 👇🏽 🔍 I have read the APEXE Nations Report from Startup Genome. This report provides a data-driver, practical toolkit to measure how effectively each country converts innovation potential into startup success. Here is what got my interest: 📊 Key Insights: 🔷 The G20 startup ecosystem opportunity represents a potential $2.7 trillion in additional value 🔷Average Ecosystem Value is 8% of GDP across G20 nations 🔷Unique Methodology: The model calculates how well a country converts its Innovation Potential into Startup Ecosystem success (Lab-to-Startup score), then factors in Policy actions to determine the final APEXE ranking.
