About us

💁♀️SERVICES Menowar provides education, support, and coaching for women, and those supporting them, before and during menopause. ✅Coaching: individuals, couples, small groups, and corporate needs ✅Events: Menopause Informational Sessions and Menopause Cafes 🎊Prior to starting Menowar, I was a Marketing executive and leader with experience across Sales, Customer Support, Product Development, Innovation, and Strategy. After working corporately for 25+ years, I decided that I just wasn't having fun anymore. Then, after struggling through my own menopause journey, I just got mad about the disservice done to women during this stage of life! I made a major career pivot to embrace my purpose and focus on advocating for women’s health and serving women during menopause. And Menowar was born! HOW MENOWAR CAN HELP Menopause is often misdiagnosed, under-communicated, and under-served. Menowar is changing this phenomenon and providing information, resources, treatment options, and support for women during their journey. We can be your guide through this huge life transition, ensure you are in the driver’s seat, and help you thrive during mid-life! Menowar will: ✅Equip you with an understanding of menopause and your biology. ✅Educate you on the options to manage your symptoms and long-term health, including hormone replacement therapy and many other treatments. ✅Empower you to find the best providers and ask them the right questions. ✅Enable you to advocate for yourself personally and professionally so others can understand your menopause and provide you with the support that you need. ✅Establish a community of women in menopause and a safe space to vent, share experiences, and provide insights. • ♀️Ovary Removal Could Greatly Raise Some Women's Odds for Alzheimer's   I recently posted on #hysterectomies and the learning that removing #ovaries can not only bring on early and sudden #menopause but can shorten #lifespan and increase risks for #HeartDisease, #osteoporosis, #stroke, #LungCancer, #Parkinson’s, and #dementia. This research highlights additional risks for women who undergo ovary removal at a young age, particularly its association with #Alzheimer's. BACKGROUND 🔬 #Estradiol, a hormone produced by the #ovaries, plays a vital role in protecting #BrainHealth. 🧬 Women who carry the APOE4 gene already face heightened odds of developing #Alzheimers. 🩺 An #oophorectomy is the removal of one or both ovaries and may also involve removing other reproductive organs. 📈 By 2050, #AlzheimersDisease is projected to affect 12.7 million individuals aged 65+, with women comprising two-thirds of this number. NEW RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS 🌟 Women with ovaries removed who carried the APOE4 gene faced 4x the risk of Alzheimer's, compared to those who experienced natural menopause without the gene. 🎓 A higher level of education was linked to a 9% lower likelihood of developing Alzheimer's, reinforcing the importance of cognitive resilience. KEY TAKEAWAYS 💊 Estrogen-based therapies (like #HRT) can significantly decrease the risk of Alzheimer's for women who’ve undergone ovary removal before age 50. Starting HRT cut the excess risk of dementia in half! 🔬 This research underscores why more women than men develop Alzheimer’s, provides insight into resilience factors, and equips women with the tools for informed, shared decision-making when ovary removal is recommended. 💪 💡 Knowledge is power—stack the cards in your favor! 🧠 https://lnkd.in/gwKhifX4

  • 🏋️♀️Women and Exercise: Bridging the Gender Gap Women get less exercise than men — and it’s a problem. Studies show that only 33% of women meet weekly aerobic exercise recommendations, compared to 43% of men. 🤔Why? The fitness gender gap is tied to less free time and societal expectations. ✅Starting in their tweens, young men still generally have greater access to athletic opportunities than young women. ✅Women spend more time caring for the home and others. We have a million things to do, and exercise is often the easiest thing to deprioritize! ✅Women tend to exercise more for appearance reasons, such as losing weight, and as a result, don’t get as much joy from it. 💔Impacts This lack of movement has long-term health and quality of life impacts. While women live an average of six years longer than men, they spend a greater percentage of their lives in poor health. Plus, research suggests that, compared to men, women may benefit more from the same dose of exercise. 🌟Benefits ✅ Reframe exercise as self-care. ✅ Celebrate small wins. ✅ Find supportive workout buddies. 🧘♀️Takeaway Exercising is one of the best investments you can make in your physical and mental health. Ask others to help with those chores! ❓What’s your go-to way to squeeze in movement during a busy day? Let’s share tips! 👇 https://lnkd.in/g3UVzqvG #WomensHealth #Fitness #GenderEquality

  • ❓ What Are Testosterone Pellets? And Do I Need Them? This insightful article by Kelly Casperson, MD—one of my favorite experts on midlife and sexual health—dives into the world of #TestosteronePellets for @oprahdaily. They have grown in popularity and many love the convenience, most evidence-based hormone experts are strongly opposed to their use. Here’s why. 🧬 Testosterone in Women? Surprise! Women naturally make #Testosterone—actually 3x more than #Estrogen, though only about 10% of what men produce. It plays a role in enhancing sexual function, energy, and overall health. 🔄 What Happens During #Menopause? Unlike the rapid decline of #Estrogen and #Progesterone, testosterone decreases more slowly. Some experts believe adding it back could help with libido & sexual function, bone health & muscle tone, energy, sleep, memory, & mood 🛑 But here's the catch: #Testosterone is not FDA-approved for women in the U.S., and treatment comes with risks like weight gain, acne, or unwanted hair growth. Plus, #testosterone is a Schedule III drug controlled by the DEA and prohibited in many states – mostly due to past athletic misuse for performance reasons. 🧴Forms of Testosterone Options include injections, gels, creams, suppositories, and pellets. But since there’s no FDA-approved female dose, women often rely on compounding pharmacies or take one tenth of the male dosage. 💡 What Are Pellets? Tiny rice-sized pellets are inserted under the skin (often in-office). They dissolve over 2–6 months, releasing testosterone steadily. While convenient, they come with risks: ⚠️ High doses (can’t be removed once inserted) can cause undesirable side effects like side effects like voice changes, enlargement of the clitoris, hair loss, or facial hair growth. ⚠️ Expensive, often not covered by insurance ⚡ Why Are They Controversial? Some doctors think they should be banned, given the potential side effects and their overuse to drive profitability. Most menopause experts recommend starting with #Estrogen and #Progesterone first to address symptoms, and then consider #testosterone as an option. 🔮 The Future Many hope for : 1.     Better research on #TestosteroneTreatment for women 2.     Deregulation from the DEA scheduled list 3.     FDA-approved options with consistent, safe doses 4.     Improved insurance coverage Kelly Casperson, MD advocates for personalized care—without high costs or risky treatments. Women deserve better healthcare and access to safe, evidence-based options. 🤔What do you think about #HormoneTherapy? https://lnkd.in/gDyM49Aq

  • ⏳Why Aging Experts Are Obsessed With ‘Health Span’ ⏳ 🌟 What is Health Span? “Health span” is the number of years you live without serious disease, especially those linked to aging. For many, the fear of losing physical or mental abilities — or becoming a burden to loved ones — outweighs the fear of dying. 🧓❤️ 🌿 How to Improve Health Span: 1.     Healthy lifestyle habits: Exercise regularly, eat nutritious foods, get quality sleep, practice mindfulness, and nurture social connections. 2.     Innovative approaches: Experimental methods like targeting cellular aging with drugs, genetic tweaks, or extreme diets are being explored by scientists. 🎯 The Golden Goal By slowing down aging itself, we can delay chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, or dementia. This holistic approach aims to tackle multiple conditions at once — not just one by one. ✨ At the end of the day, living a long, healthy life is about attitude, relationships, and focusing on the quality of your time here. Let’s make every moment count! #HealthyAging #Longevity #HealthSpan https://lnkd.in/gFjTZ8vt

  • 🚺 Closing the Gender Gap in Healthcare This fantastic report by Cure. highlights many systemic challenges leading to a #GenderGap in healthcare. Here’s a quick summary of this comprehensive document.   🚨The Problem #WomensHealth faces systemic challenges rooted in: · Historical Exclusion: Women have been underrepresented in clinical trials, leaving significant gaps in data, and understanding of sex-linked differences in health outcomes. · Funding Disparities: Despite the $41.2 billion in venture funding in 2023, only 2% was directed toward women’s health. · Market Gap: Difficulty quantifying the market opportunity further stalls progress and innovation.   ⚠️The Result While women live longer than men on average, they spend 25% more of their lives in poor health. This leads to a lower quality of life, reduced workforce productivity, and higher healthcare costs for women compared to men.   💡 The Opportunity By driving innovation, investment, and impact, there is an opportunity to revolutionize women’s health and reduce disparities.   🚀How to Overcome: 1. Education & Awareness: Increase focus on sex-based biological differences in medical schools and academic research. 2. Data & Research: Expand research, not just in traditional women’s health issues, but across neurology, oncology, cardiovascular, autoimmune, and infectious diseases. 3. Compelling Investment Cases: Develop data-driven cases for investment, backed by scientific, medical, and commercial insights. 4. Support Entrepreneurs: Foster innovation by providing seed funding, education, networking, and mentorship to founders in women’s health. 5. Government Incentives: Offer non-dilutive funding and incentives for drugs, devices, and solutions that advance women’s health.   ✨The Benefits: Recognizing and addressing these opportunities could transform outcomes for women globally. Women’s health represents a  $50 billion market opportunity in 2024, projected to grow to $68 billion by 2030. ▶️It’s time to invest in innovation and close the gender gap in healthcare. Together, we can improve lives and create meaningful economic impact. https://lnkd.in/eiHqN8Yk #WomensHealth #Innovation #HealthcareInvestment #GenderEquity
