Let's build a more sustainable world together by ending the exploitation of animals for food.
About us
Mercy For Animals believes that a humane society is possible. We are committed to reducing the greatest amount of suffering for the largest number of animals. Our efforts focus on protecting farmed animals—the most abused and exploited animals on the planet—and utilize a broad range of strategic approaches that seek to expose cruelty, prosecute abusers, and inspire consumers to make compassionate food choices. We are on the frontlines fighting to protect farmed animals. From factory farms to corporate boardrooms, courts of justice to courts of public opinion, MFA is there to speak up against cruelty, and for compassion.

These terrified piglets screamed as they were tossed from one worker to another. Little consideration is given to the suffering of baby pigs on factory farms. In fact, they routinely have their teeth ground down, have their little tails cut off, have holes punched into their ears, and are castrated—all without painkillers. Take a stand for piglets today by leaving them off your plate. Click the link below to learn how. bit.ly/MFAHEV

"Bird flu has been detected in a batch of raw milk sold in California stores, and the state’s department of public health said Sunday that the public should not drink it." Bird flu has spread to hundreds of dairy herds around the country and was recently detected in a pig in the U.S. for the first time. This is just another sign that our animal farming system needs to change to something kinder, safer, and more sustainable.

Most of the shrimp exploited for food come from industrial aquaculture farms, where mother shrimp have their eyes cut off without anesthesia. This is done by crushing or severing the eyestalks, using glowing-hot tweezers or tying a thread or wire around the eyestalks until they fall off from lack of blood. A shrimp’s eyestalks contain glands that produce hormones that influence reproduction. While the industry claims that damaging these glands causes female shrimp to mature faster, scientific research shows that this mutilation negatively affects their growth, reduces the quality of their eggs, and even increases mortality rates in their offspring. We’re asking ASDA, one of the UK’s largest supermarkets, to ban this cruel practice in their supply chain! Please join us by taking action at the link below. https://lnkd.in/gREJsZBt

In factory farms, pigs are treated as mere meat-producing machines. If they survive past infancy, their shortened lives are filled with misery and deprivation. Unfortunately, no federal law protects animals during their lives at factory farms. This means that the meat industry is legally able to abuse billions of farmed animals in ways that would warrant felony animal cruelty charges if the victim were just one dog or cat. Mercy For Animals is calling for the enactment and enforcement of animal protection laws and an eventual shift to a just and sustainable food system.
