The beginning of a new year is the perfect time for seniors to focus on wellness and create healthy habits. Here are a few tips to keep in mind: Stay Active: Gentle exercises like walking, yoga, or tai chi can improve flexibility, balance, and overall energy levels. Eat Nutrient-Rich Foods: For sustained energy and immune support, add more fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to your diet. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is crucial for maintaining health and preventing dehydration. Prioritize Rest: Quality sleep supports physical health and cognitive function—aim for 7-8 hours per night. Stay Social and Engaged: Join a club, volunteer, or connect with loved ones to keep your mind active and maintain emotional well-being. Schedule Health Screenings: Start the year with a checkup to stay on top of your health goals. What healthy habits will you focus on this new year?

Butterfly Week at Mercy Ridge!!Mercy Ridge’s Environment & Landscape Committee sponsored a weeklong celebration of butterflies and bees, and this year, included some of the more misunderstood benefactors; dragonflies and damselflies. This celebration included informative displays and handouts, artwork, photos, contests, puzzles, speakers, films and more highlighting all these amazing creatures and everything they add to our community and indeed, the whole world. In addition, we hosted a butterfly release in our very own Butterfly Garden. Ms. Trixi was honored by Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski with a citation recognizing her work in the Butterfly Garden since its beginning.

The solemn Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur begins at sundown this evening. Yom Kippur, or the “Day of Atonement,” is the most sacred day in the Jewish calendar, reserved for introspection, forgiveness, and repentance, traditionally observed through prayer, fasting, and contemplation. We extend warm wishes to our friends, family and staff observing this significant holiday.
