You worked hard, passed your exams, built your clinical skills… but why do some people get ahead faster than others? Research is typically the answer, along with other important skills like communication, leadership, etc. Many believe publishing is only for professors and researchers at prestigious institutions. But in reality, high-quality publications are universally used by top candidates for nearly every career application, including #residency, #fellowships, and leadership positions. Here’s why #research experience is a game-changer: 🔹 It proves your ability to think critically, analyze data, and contribute to evidence-based medicine. 🔹 It makes you stand out in application pools flooded with candidates who have similar clinical experience. 🔹 It opens doors to networking, academic opportunities, and global recognition. Yet, most medical schools won’t teach you how to do this. They expect you to figure it out alone. But in the Meta-Analysis Academy, we’ll teach you a clear roadmap for publishing impactful research as a first author, with confidence and autonomy. Don’t wait years to learn what you can master now. Join the team and take control of your career! https://lnkd.in/diRHsHuU

About us
The Meta-Analysis Academy is a training program that teaches you how to publish high-impact papers, with autonomy, to advance your career. We teach ideas, methods, statistics, and writing of systematic reviews and meta-analysis at the highest level. We start from basic concepts, assuming no prior research knowledge. Then, we walk our students through each step of the process, all the way up to advanced topics, including network and diagnostic meta-analyses. Our students have achieved more than 1200 participations in peer-reviewed publications, as first author or co-authors, including the top journals in several fields. Here are some examples: JAMA Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Endoscopy, British Journal of Haematology, Lancet EClinical Medicine, European Journal of Pediatrics, American Journal of Ophthalmology, and American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, among others. Our mission is two-fold: 1. To provide doctors and medical students worldwide with the tools to publish high-impact research independently. 2. To transform the careers of doctors, medical students, and healthcare professionals through the publication of relevant research. We invite you to join the movement and become a part of the #metamasters team. Disclaimer: We do not guarantee publications. We do not do research or publications for our students. The Meta-Analysis Academy provides training and support for systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Publications are the sole responsibility of study authors.

Mixing Observational Studies & RCTs in Meta-Analysis: When Does It Make Sense? Meta-analyses are quantitive analyses of data from studies that are similar with each other, but not all data is created equal. While RCTs are less prone to bias, many research topics lack robust RCT data. In these cases, clinicians have no option but to rely on observational studies. When is it ok to combine RCTs and observational studies in a meta-analysis? The short answer is to try to avoid doing so, if you can. But oftentimes, you do not have viability in your research idea without observational studies. In these cases, you have no option but to mix RCTs and observational studies. Consider doing a sensitivity analysis of RCTs only. By the way, don’t miss our upcoming LIVE sessions, as we warm up for The Publication Roadmap. 📅 Live session coming soon: - Feb 20 - 7 AM (New York) - Feb 23 - 7 AM (New York) - Feb 27 - 3 PM (New York)Mixing Observational Studies & RCTs in Meta-Analysis: When Does It Make Sense? I am very excited to have been selected to present our research at the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS) Annual Scientific Meeting this May in Istanbul. This distinguished conference serves as a global platform for leading experts and innovators in cardiothoracic surgery, and I am privileged to contribute to this discourse. I will be delivering an oral presentation titled: "Minimally Invasive versus Complete Sternotomy for Reimplantation Valve-Sparing Aortic Root Replacement: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis." Our research provides a comprehensive evaluation of perioperative outcomes, comparing minimally invasive and complete sternotomy approaches in reimplantation valve-sparing aortic root replacement, highlighting several potential benefits of the minimally invasive technique in improving surgical outcomes and optimising patient recovery. I look forward to contributing to this important scientific exchange and extending my gratitude to Mr Mislav Planinc for his invaluable contributions and senior guidance in this work. I also would like to acknowledge the Meta-Analysis Academy and Dr Rhanderson Cardoso for their continued support in all my research endeavours 🙏🏻🫀✨️

First abstract accepted at the world’s largest gastroenterology conference! What a thrilled feeling that is after months learning and dedicating myself. The journey into research is not easy. It requires resilience, dedication, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. The results are not immediate, but I truly believe they will be lasting. This milestone represents much more than an accepted abstract—it is proof of the power of teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my incredible team, who have played a crucial role in my growth. In particular: 🔹 Aryanna Sousa, MD, MPH for selecting me to be part of her expert team and giving me this opportunity. Being surrounded by brilliant minds has accelerated my learning in ways I never imagined. Thank you for your trust and guidance! 🔹 Paula Arruda do Espírito Santo the first author of this study, a professional I deeply admire. Paula’s brilliance, and depth of knowledge have been a true inspiration to me over the last couple of months. I am incredibly lucky to be learning alongside someone as talented as you. Can’t express my gratitude enough. And of course, aspecial thank you as well to Rhanderson Cardoso and all Meta-Analysis Academy team, who encouraged me to invest in learning research and to believe in the long-term impact of scientific work. Research is hard work, but moments like this remind me that every effort is worth it. And this is just the beginning! #MedicalResearch #Gastroenterology #DDW2025 #Teamwork #ScientificPublishing #MedicalResidency
