About us

The Meta-Analysis Academy is a training program that teaches you how to publish high-impact papers, with autonomy, to advance your career. We teach ideas, methods, statistics, and writing of systematic reviews and meta-analysis at the highest level. We start from basic concepts, assuming no prior research knowledge. Then, we walk our students through each step of the process, all the way up to advanced topics, including network and diagnostic meta-analyses. Our students have achieved more than 1200 participations in peer-reviewed publications, as first author or co-authors, including the top journals in several fields. Here are some examples: JAMA Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Endoscopy, British Journal of Haematology, Lancet EClinical Medicine, European Journal of Pediatrics, American Journal of Ophthalmology, and American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, among others. Our mission is two-fold: 1. To provide doctors and medical students worldwide with the tools to publish high-impact research independently. 2. To transform the careers of doctors, medical students, and healthcare professionals through the publication of relevant research. We invite you to join the movement and become a part of the #metamasters team. Disclaimer: We do not guarantee publications. We do not do research or publications for our students. The Meta-Analysis Academy provides training and support for systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Publications are the sole responsibility of study authors.

  • Mastering the PICOTT Question Ready to dive into the world of meta-analysis? Before we get started, it's crucial to understand the PICOTT question. This powerful tool helps you formulate research questions effectively and identify the right studies for your meta-analysis. While Cochrane’s definition focuses on PICO, we go further by including Time and Type of study. What is PICOTT? - Population: Who are you studying? - Intervention: What are you testing? - Comparison: What's the alternative? - Outcome: What are you measuring? - Time: How long is the follow-up? - Type of study: What kind of research design are you using? Why is PICOTT essential? Mastering this structure helps you: Ask focused and relevant research questions. Identify the most impactful studies to include in your meta-analysis. Avoid potential biases and time wastage in your research. Get ready to dive deeper! You can learn from the master himself, Rhanderson will be delving into the PICOTT question in detail within our Introduction module. Join us to learn how to use this powerful tool to elevate your research! https://lnkd.in/dWYkHhYc #MetaAnalysis #PICOTT #Research

  • This is what mean Meta-Analysis Academy: #Community The Meta-Analysis Academy is a training program that teaches you how to #publish high-impact #papers, with #autonomy, to advance your career. But more than that, the Meta-Analysis Academy was born out of concern about the difficulties students and doctors face in conducting #research. The community is based on scientific integrity, partnership, consistency, continuous development, and passion. If you want to know more about how our teaching and ongoing support works, join the waiting list. #MetaAnalysis #SystematicReview

  • A couple of days ago, we discussed the differences between an #ABSTRACT and a #MANUSCRIPT and why both are essential steps in the journey of career development. Today, let’s dive into a practical example with one of our dedicated researchers, Elísio Bulhões. Elísio exemplifies the best practices in research by embracing both the conference and publication stages. He initially presented the preliminary results of his work on Culprit vessel revascularization in ST-elevation myocardial infarction at a prestigious cardiology conference. This gave him the chance to engage with other professionals, receive valuable feedback, and refine his analysis. But Elísio didn’t stop there!! Being a #MetaMaster, he knew that true scientific impact comes from sharing detailed, peer-reviewed results with the academic community. His hard work and commitment led to a publication in a respected journal, Coronary Artery Disease, where his findings can contribute to clinical practice and guide future studies. Leveraging both conference presentations and full publications allows #researchers to maximize the reach and impact of their work. An abstract may open doors and optimize connections, but a peer-reviewed manuscript secures a place in the scientific literature. Let’s continue to strive for ethical and impactful research, ensuring our findings are published and accessible to make a meaningful difference. Don’t limit your research journey to abstracts—aim for comprehensive publications and let your data make its mark. ;) What is your story with #abstract X #manuscripts? • How many publications are needed for a residency #Match? 1️⃣ Specialty matters: Some specialties are highly competitive and demand a robust publication record. General Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Dermatology often require a higher number of publications. 2️⃣ Quality over Quantity: The quality and impact of your publications are more important than just the sheer number. High-impact journals, first-author status, and contributions to impactful research studies carry more weight than many publications in less prestigious journals. 3️⃣ The "whole package" counts: Publications are just one piece of the puzzle. Your USMLE score, clinical experience, letters of recommendation, and personal statement also play a significant role. Focusing solely on publications may neglect other critical aspects of your application. Want to learn more? More presentations at RSNA, but it’s not every day that our work gets featured on AuntMinnie! 😃 https://lnkd.in/e5C4a5GC This time, it was our meta-analysis on the use of the PI-RR system for biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer presented by the great Adriano Basso Dias. The main finding was that PI-RR have high specificity rates at both a cutoff rate equal to or greater than three and a rate equal to or greater than four. We also highlighted the importance of DCE sequence. This was definitely a pleasant surprise! Congratulations to everyone involved in this project.
