PILAT METHA: Local energy from local feedstocks Last in date Methalac’s biogas plant commissioned this summer! Pilat Metha is a biogas project led by 5 farms located in the hilly landscape of Pilat Regional Park in France. The facility valorizes annually 20 000 tons of farm residues and biowaste soup into biogas which is upgraded to biomethane and injected into the gas grid. Pilat Metha’s specific feeding system, digesters, and pasteurization line make possible the codigestion of dairy farms’ feedstocks such as lactoserum or manure and biowaste from surroundings agroindustries. Methalac proudly contributed to this new biogas plant success, ensuring its design, installation, and commissioning! Let's build your biogas plant together !

Did you know 798,500 tons of pumpkins were produced last year for Halloween? That’s a potential biomethane production of 30.3 million m³ (1.07 billion Scf), enough energy to power 30,000 households annually! But beware: pumpkins’ tough outer peel can slow down the digestion process, so make sure to shred them thoroughly before adding them to the mix. A great way to relieve some stress and prepare them for digestion? A good, old-fashioned pumpkin smashing! Many cities even have drop-off locations where you can bring your old pumpkins, release some stress, and practice your swing, all while reducing methane emissions from landfills. So grab a bat, smash a pumpkin, and support anaerobic digestion this season! Happy Halloween 🎃

What is Pasteurization? The pasteurization process involves heating feedstocks in isolated tanks to 70°C (158°F) for one hour. This prevents potential pathogens, which could harm the digestion process, from entering the digester. Pathogens can contaminate the digestate, leading to pollution of the land where it is spread. By using this method, new types of substrates, such as food waste, animal by-products, and agro-industrial residues can be safely digested along with manure and agricultural residues. Prior the pasteurization process, feedstocks are mixed and processed to reduce fiber length to less than 12mm before entering the digester. This ensures optimal digestion and helps avoid operational issues. Methalac has specialized itself in co-digestion to maximize gas production from all feedstocks locally available. We have designed and installed over 15 anaerobic digestion plants equipped with pasteurization systems.. That is about 25% of all biogas plants (65 biogas plant in operation) designed and installed by Methalac. Choosing Methalac means choosing reliability and benefiting from over 12 years of experience in pasteurization line design for anaerobic digestion!

Discover Metha4agri! The first METHALAC’s biogas plant of the year, commissioned in February 2024, and located in the alps. Metha4agri is a biogas plant project successfully carried out by 4 farmers. The plant produces 100 Nm3/h (62 SCFM) of biomethane, enough to empower 2 200 households! A biogas plant fully included in its local environment: ➡️ Most of the feedstocks are supplied by the 4 farms involved in the project. ➡️ 100% local construction teams: all companies involved in the construction are located within a 30km radius around the plant. ➡️ The digestate is used to fertilize the surrounding fields. ➡️ The biomethane is injected into the local gas grid, with part of it used for the heating system of schools and public buildings. As the designer of the biogas process, METHALAC engineering team used different technologies to optimize the biogas production: ➡️ A digestate recirculation system, saving a significant water volume for the process dilution. ➡️ A feeding technology able to treat high solid content materials. ➡️ A Grinding system for a better digestion of the feedstock, optimization of mixing, heating, and pump durability. METHALAC's team are looking forward to meet you at the inauguration of the plant this Week-end! Let's built your biogas plant together! #Biogas #RNG #Greenenergy
